Forum Rules
Post Content
- The posting of racist/homophobic/sexist or other such bigotry is forbidden.
This is a multicultural forum, and such actions cannot be tolerated.
- Do not post links to downloadable copyrighted material in public. Also,
do not post topics, or in topics advertising or via any means requesting
any kind of downloadable copyrighted material. If you wish to share such
files, please do so in private.
- The posting of images of full, or partial explicit nudity and/or pornography,
or links to such content on other web sites is forbidden. Images sourced from
pornographic websites or other medium (even those made ’clean’ by image manipulation)
are also forbidden.
- Do not make posts of a graphic sexual nature. This site is primarily a place
to discuss the Pet Shop Boys and not a place for ’sex chat’ and/or innuendo,
even in the Off Topic forum. Note that the forums are open to people of all
ages and as such the content should be suitable for all to read.
- Personal threats and insults toward fellow forum members are unacceptable.
Feel free to disagree with what others say or do, but keep your replies
constructive and civilised. For example. ‘I disagree strongly with that.. I
think this...’, as opposed to ‘I can’t believe you said that, you idiot!’. It’s
always possible to get your opinion across without being rude or offensive.
- ’Trolling’ - the deliberate posting of messages with the sole intention of
causing offence to other members - is not permitted. ’Forum spamming’ - posts
and threads by an individual that, due to their volume and/or nature, can, in
the view of Forum Admin, be reasonably said to spoil the user experience for
others in a way that cannot be easily tolerated or ignored - is also not permitted.
Forum members who continually ’troll’ or 'spam' risk permanent exclusion.
- We offer a 'For sale / wanted' section which is strictly for personal, non commercial use.
The posting of commercial sales links or information, dubious or otherwise, is not allowed
in any way, shape or form. Users who ignore this rule will be officially warned and find
their offending posts edited or removed. Further such indiscretions from the same user will
result in more serious action being taken. Any new user who joins and immediately posts
commercial links or information will be banned immediately.
- The Off Topic forum is there for you to post on subjects unrelated to PSB. It is not for,
and should not be used in any way to get around the rules as laid down above.
Users breaking any of these rules will be warned by a forum administrator or moderator. Repeated
breaking of the rules after previous warning/s will result in further action being taken, such as
posts having to be approved before they become publically viewable, or in extreme cases exclusion
from the forums without further notice. If you don’t feel that you can use the forums within the
rules as laid down above then please don’t use them at all.
Signatures
If you choose to put an image in your signature file, please make sure it is a
maximum of 400 pixels wide and 200 high. This helps with the formatting of the
forum at lower resolutions, and makes for easier scrolling through posts. Also
please don’t use huge animated files, as this slows doen the forum for those with
modem connections.
Forum Etiquette Guidelines
The following is meant as a guide to behaviour on this board. If you follow this
guide, you’re unlikely to upset your fellow forum members and you certainly won’t
be breaking forum rules. Most of it is common sense. If you treat others as you
would hope to be treated, and act like a responsible adult, you’re unlikely to go
far wrong!
- If you are unhappy with what someone has posted, bring your concerns to the
attention of a moderator via a PM. Don’t just wade in and start an argument.
If the other poster has broken forum rules, we’ll deal with it. If not, we’ll
attempt to resolve the dispute in private. There’s no need for public arguments.
This also applies if you think we have missed an infringement of the rules.
We’re not robots, so there’s a chance we will miss things. Bring them to our
attention!
- Be especially careful when posting in topics concerning political matters. We
are brought together here by our love of one band’s music, not by shared political
ideology. Political issues are some of the most divisive, so please make an extra
special effort to be polite in these threads.
- Please try to stick to the original topic of a thread. It’s unavoidable that some
threads will naturally veer off topic, but try not to use threads for personal
conversations. That’s what PM’s are for.
- Be careful when you say something that could be misinterpreted. Communication on
a forum like this is not the same as having a chat with your friends. It’s very
easy that on a text based forum, what you intend as a funny comment will be taken
at face value. Smileys are useful but they are no substitute for body language
and tone of voice.
- Try not to swear excessively. The ‘bad word’ filter is turned off on these
forums with the exception of a few of the worst swear words. We don’t mind the
odd bit of swearing, but please try to be sensible.
- While it’s obvious that there will always be posters that are more prolific than
others, please try to be considerate of others when you are posting. Posting 30
little posts in the space of an hour, while not adding much substance to threads
can spoil the enjoyment of the forum for those who don’t check it so regularly.
It can be annoying when there are a mountain of threads to check which contain
little more of interest than the last time you looked.
- Using more than one user ID is fine for the occasional post, but general use of
more than one user ID is not necessary.
- Please respect the wishes of forum administrators or moderators if you are
contacted by one. They are there to help ensure the use of the forums is a
pleasant and informative experience for everyone.
The final word
For the good of the forums and the enjoyment of the people who use them, please think of
your fellow forum members and adhere to the rules and guidelines above when making posts.
Thanks for your cooperation.
