Re: Rate "Dreamland"

Anyway, I've gone back to listening after a few days of fasting. Still think it's a spot-on strong track for them right now. Olly is a great choice. He's of a generation and a scene that will probably love to hear from, or learn of, PSB. And there's an element of cool here. They are reaching an audi...

Re: Rate "Dreamland"

Sure, but is anyone here really doing or expecting that? I think it's more likely that people have been seeing diminishing returns from the Stuart Price era since the brilliance of Electric, and everything new becomes more of the same, just but not quite as creative and not quite as good. If there ...

Re: DREAMWORLD TOUR

The idea that this is Greatest Hits might indicate they want to fit in a Greatest Hits tour now while they still have the energy

Doesn't mean they wont do select dates as they get older. But these big tours take energy! And I'm sure they'd prefer something more intimate and artistic anyway.

Re: Rate "Dreamland"

8/10

Love the melancholy horns and how well the vocals work together.

Lyrics are quite sad and longing....

N&C (and O) are great!

Re: Musik - Cabaret and EP

The stage dimly light. Drico saunters to the microphone. Cigarette between his yellowing fingers, clutching a whiskey sour to his bosom. In the queeniest of voices, he smoulders: I haven't enough interest in Billie Trix, even less Jonathan Harvey, to endure the queeny frivolity on stage in Edinburgh...

Re: Today I listened to Elysium for the first time since 2012...

Breathing space is one of their best ever. At the time of release I was going through some difficult times/major life crossroads decisions and it really resonated with me as a result and helped a lot. Beautiful, evocative song. Agreed. It's a classic in its own right but probably incongruent with t...

Re: Shorter songs - Annoying

Well I doubt they're going to do anything other than what they want to do. Last Price will have epic length songs, don't worry. If not all, in the same vein as Electric. After that, a return to a mixture, I recon. Fundamental had some longer songs, but more focused on story telling than, say, an ext...

Re: Shorter songs - Annoying

Yes but Very is of a very different genre, pop songs with a structure. Super and post-Super are dense disco-songs where even the untrained ear can hear that there is room for at least a minute or two of extra length. I wouldn't normally... on the other hand was way too short on the album, the 7'' h...

Re: Shorter songs - Annoying

They've talked before about their love of producing albums of 3-4 minute pop singles.

They mix it up of course, but overwhelmingly that is their format.

Re: Today I listened to Elysium for the first time since 2012...

Absolutely agree Disco is a cohesive listen, and a terrific one. It immediately transports me to the 80s. Though ironically it's probably by accident, given it's a mix album with no central production. Probably a product of its time, with many different mixers channeling the vibe of the era and more...

Urm, no way is the bass line form West End Girls similar to Billy Jean.

Wonder if the boys ever met Michael.

Re: Today I listened to Elysium for the first time since 2012...

Greetings, It's probably one of their most cohesive efforts, to my ears. We need a Geowayne poll on the most "cohesive" PSB album. Elysium would definitively not win it for me, but it would not be last either. Retro. :) Yeah good idea. To my ears, Elysium is a stream of easy-listening tracks with a...

Elysium remains one of my favourites from them

It's sonically lush, the songs are interesting, varied, and I enjoy the little journey they send us on.

It's probably one of their most cohesive efforts, to my ears.

Re: Poll ends soon on your three favorite songs of the "Bilingual era"

Nice poll  Interesting that Paninaro is so far down the list and Red Letter Day so far on top. Kinda nice to see they still have a nuanced fanbase, beyond the banging-lasers brigade. Se A Vida and Up Against It are the core Bilingual era tracks for me, but I can understand people shying away fro...
