Re: PSB vs Daft Punk
Liked them when they were skinny French guys who were camera shy but clearly obsessed Find much of Discovery a bit of a chore to sit through, too gimmicky and icey. But I LOVE "Verdis Quo". Amazing. Electric is a far denser experience than Daft Punk could produce. But I think the Daft Punk...

Re: PSB - Vaccination
Australia has had closed borders since early on.
Relatively low deaths. Hospitals were never overflowing.
You can't fly there for a vacation of course. Bad optics is the least concern, really.

It's really tough to order them! 01. Will-o-the-Wisp 02. Breathing Space 03. Invisible 04. Burning The Heather 05. Love Is A Bourgeois Construct 06. Leaving 07. Hoping for a miracle 08. A face like that 09. The way through the woods (long version) 10. Odd man out 11. Everything means something 12. T...

Re: Hotspot: 1 year old today
My only quibble with Hotspot is the sequencing of "You are the one" after "Will-o-the-wisp". On first listen it was just a massive let down. Yeah, I sometimes wonder why they didn't keep the energy up sky high. But in other ways I can understand them just wanting to slide into s...

Re: Hotspot: 1 year old today
I've gotta agree with the previous two posters - it's still my favourite of the trilogy and one of my overall favourites since Very. It has a darker, sadder quality like the best bits of Elysium or Fundamental - but its shadows are exciting, the way Actually or the Behaviour era B sides are. When W...

I won't mention Wedding though.
Still shocks me.
But somehow I defend its existence to myself, without ever understanding why it exists.

Re: Hotspot: 1 year old today
Reread the overly long review I did back before covid hit: https://www.petshopboys-forum.com/viewtopic.php?p=589285#p589285 My thoughts haven't changed too much. Except I probably mentally tune out Only The Dark now. I still think that track is impossibly lavish, but somehow that makes it a little f...

Actually this format is absolutely perfect for a mini covid performance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUjXGNBFrrU&feature=emb_title I love the vibe. You get a mini crowd reaction, and PSB can turn on the theatrics for the camera. It's a staged performance, just more like an episode of Seinfeld...

Re: News: "Chris and Neil have been at their homes, writing new songs and working on music for a new theatre production"
It's a really difficult time. And very sad how people trying to do what they can do stop the spread are expected to be 100% right in their approach by a minority of negative people on socials. In Australia the lockdowns and precautions are clearly working. They've recovered from 2 waves, and are hop...

Said it before, but Hotpot is the ultimate PSB “curse”.
I really wonder if they’d be cautious and postpone a real tour until way later, and maybe dispatch new material before hand.

Re: It Doesn't Often Appear At Christmas
I don't know. Might be alone here, but I think they stuffed up the re-release a few years back. It's a good enough track to chart for Xmas, but the mix tries too hard, and the vocals in the versus are so grindingly metallic Still hope for in a future year to release a new mix with warmer production,...
