Re: Choose the 5 th single (if there is a new one)

Most of the singles off this album were very poor ...to you. I'm actually very happy with "Monkey business" and "I don't wanna", content with "Burning the heather" - the only dud was "Dreamland", pretty flaccid. Dreamland sounds like a commercial song. Neil thinks it had been a hit in the 80's and ...

Choose the 5 th single (if there is a new one)

I think PSB has plans for a new Disco album and the next year they need one to promote the concerts, so I think they are going to use a fith single. Probably a new version of one song of Hotspot. Which one do you think they should choose?.

Peters Pop Show (the days PSB looked like rock stars on a TV show)

The PSB account has taken the 4 performances of Neil and Chris on this TV show. I know there is a Youtube thread but I think it's the first time we can watch the 4 performances all together and talking about them. I love it. You know it's like PSB being rock stars. I love the spectacularity of it an...

Re: What would you think a future PSB's album should sound like in order to reinvent themselves?

Please don’t tar fans as not appreciating craft / different (or as another member put it ‘unadventurous morons’, which says more about the original poster really). It says what I think about the tedious fans who can't understand that the imperial phase ended 35 years ago, anyway. Have you watched t...

Re: What would you think a future PSB's album should sound like in order to reinvent themselves?

Stefan Storm from the Sound of Arrows, could be a good producer for the next album. He just produced the brilliant long awaited new Annie single, American Cars Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I think this song sounds very PSB. The film was made in Spain by the way by Spaniards and the kids are S...

Re: What would you think a future PSB's album should sound like in order to reinvent themselves?

Like most bands of a similar age PSB have got to the stage where they will record and do exactly what they want to do and quite rightly too. They don’t need to reinvent themselves unless they want to. They’ve grown out of you and don’t need you so if they aren’t recording what you want to hear then...

Re: What would you think a future PSB's album should sound like in order to reinvent themselves?

But I'm not talking about the lyrics, I'm talking about music. Songs like Leaving and Invisible are not particulary good on musical terms. If Leaving had been on Behaviour you'd be calling it a masterpiece. I prefer King Cross, To face the Truth, Only the Wind, Jealousy, E mail, even B-sides like T...

Re: What would you think a future PSB's album should sound like in order to reinvent themselves?

And then they reacted against being put in a box by people like Nickname with Release, which is probably the most pivotal album in their catalog after Please, because it radically redefined what the Pet Shop Boys could be. Is it a great album? Not in my opinion, but it's possible to take the tracks...

Anyway... for me, it's not about sounds but about attitude.
Yep. That's the idea.

Re: Actually vs Introspective, choose the best one

I disagree that Introspective represents the imperial era. None of the 4 no. 1 singles are from it ( Always on my mind was either standalone or attached to Actually anyhow). It simply caught the momentum — came out when PSB were big. In 1989, PSB was quite Imperial too. Domino Dancing was Number 1 ...

Re: What would you think a future PSB's album should sound like in order to reinvent themselves?

Some people don't want to understand that I mean. I'd like PSB could reinvent themselves with new sounds. I said that on the first post of this thread. But of course, if I had to choose between the big quality sound of PSB in the 80's and the low quality sound of songs like Burning the Heather. I pr...

Re: What would you think a future PSB's album should sound like in order to reinvent themselves?

Greetings, If they can keep up the quality of Burning The Heather for a whole album, then go for it. Big "IF" though... Retro. :) Well, I understand why some people love some songs like BTH but that's because it has an easy listening sound and reflective lyrics. Ok you love that. But for me, the so...

Re: Actually vs Introspective, choose the best one

Actually made them my favorite music artist in my childhood. Introspective made sure they are my favorite artist for life. Same here D.J.! Both excellent albums. My Mum gave me a choice of either buying Michael Jackson's Bad record or PSB's Actually at the time. I went and chose Michael Jackso...
