Re: CD with demos of "Actually"

Is there a complete record anywhere of all the recording sessions done by the Pets over the years with details of songs attempted/mixed/scrapped etc.? Doubtful. I should imagine Neil’s diaries are the closest thing. There would be studio booking records, but they wouldn’t have details of what was b...

Re: A funny rare photo to watch of Neil Tennant

Nickname - please don’t worry about some of the comments on this post. The photo of Neil next to the baby I have seen myself a very long time ago in a magazine it was the celebrate something PSB’s related. :) I think the lady and baby could be Eric Watson’s wife and child. Neil was good friends wit...

This!!! I love it! :D 8)
It's not really a synth sound though. It's a distorted sample.

Re: Being Boring At 30

I don't agree that it's one of their weaker singles. I remember the contemporary reviews acclaiming it and it only ever sounded liked the natural second single from the first play of the album - it's got a strong melody, wonderful lyric, cool video and packaging. One can understand their rush to re...

Re: Being Boring At 30

It’s a masterpiece. Not my favourite Pet Shop Boys’ song, but top three. I’ve asked for it to be played at my funeral. What better way to go out? I don’t wanna go out.

Re: PSB at the BBC

When did Chris stop gyrating at the keyboard? I'm thinking he only did it during Please That’s an interesting question isn’t it. Was he doing it under duress because Tom Watkins and the record company etc. didn’t want them to appear so static? I’m not sure about that because he looks like he’s quit...

Re: When you stop liking the music as much

I've never understood the concept of a Pet Shop Boys fan who also likes Erasure. It's like a coffee lover who's happy to take decaf from time to time. Are you liking them because you get bored in between PSB albums? That’s ridiculous. Erasure made some great records from the mid eighties to the ear...

Re: What would you think a future PSB's album should sound like in order to reinvent themselves?

James Ford has produced Jessie Ware's new album 'What's Your Pleasure?'. A sublime pop album that nods to many artists and references, yet sounds contemporary. He has beautifully combined electronics with elegant orchestration and production, not a million miles from PSB. Listen to 'The Kill', the ...

Ah, yes, you’re right. That’s another instance then.
Let us not forget the time he was performing Domino Dancing for a TV show (German?) and dropped the keytar! The clip’s on YouTube somewhere.

Re: What do you think PSB are going to do this year?

Five singles is quite a lot for one album. Particularly for a group that doesn’t have hits any more. I get the impression they’ve decided to take a year out in response to the Coronavirus, rather than adapt as some artists have. For example, Marc Almond has performed four online concerts and has jus...

Re: What do you think PSB are going to do this year?

It never felt as if they really cared for or believed in the [hotspot] album, to me… even before it was released they were talking about it being a “transition album” and seemed more interested in the next album. And the planned tour didn’t reference it up front. The next thing isn’t far away… and ...

Re: Single versions

Suburbia, Heart and It’s alright were all much improved for me. Special mention also for A red letter day. It’s a shame they don’t seem to rework their post-album singles in the same way anymore. An edit of the David Jackson remix would have done the trick for I don’t wanna. What always blows my mi...

Re: NEW West End Girls 2x12" (Nov 2020)

Parlophone can’t release anything from Behaviour and onwards, without Neil and Chris’s consent, since they own all the rights. Oh, didn't know they had re-negotiated the Parlophone deal back in those days! Thought it was all the same contract 1985-2012. It’s when it changed to Pet Shop Boys Partner...
