Re: Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless

I liked the album version of 'Suburbia' until I first heard the single version, after which it was never the same again and sounded rather pedestrian, although all the street battle samples from the Emulator's 'Armageddon' disk were already in place. Chris's bassline on the album version was inspire...

Did it though? ‘Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing’ and ‘Love and Dancing’ set the precedent. Granted, Soft Cell were defunct and the Human League weren’t what they were by 1986.

Based on the snippet it sounds fantastically, joyously dated. I wonder if this means that they’ve given up on their long-stated notion of writing songs then presenting them using a contemporary dance music framework?

I wonder if she even has any idea? Just imagine being randomly sampled (probably without even knowing) and then being immortalised on an iconic multi-million seller!

Re: Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless

I was delighted when quite out of the blue 'West End girls' unexpectedly gave up more of its secrets about three years ago. We finally learned just what those spoken words on the street in the intro are: http://www.muzines.co.uk/blog/sound-diving-1-west-end-girls/43 We also learned that as well as p...

I am sure there will be at least one new song as a B-side on the next single.

Re: Your Instant Classics

I'm going to steer clear of the big singles even though most of them were instant classics for me, because plenty has already been written about them. Later tonight - I think the first time I heard this delightful ballad may well have been a clip of the live Whistle Test performance during the 1988 ...

I’m really interested in the Ray Roberts period at his Camden 8 studio, because we really know very little about it. They posted a photo of Ray when he sadly passed away a few years ago, but I’ve never seen a photo of that studio or them in it with Ray. I wonder if there are any?
