Re: You Need More: A Pet Shop Boys Listening Guide
Love the look of it and the hand drawn artwork and the descriptions of their personal favourites are really interesting. I’m horrified by some of the selections but I also feel kind of envious of people who’ve come to the back catalogue very recently and can judge the drossiest stuff on Elysium alo...

Loneliness has quite a shouty chorus too, actually. HMMMMM.Patrick Bateman wrote: ↑Sat 23 Mar 2024, 9:26 am Is there a connection between Neil's voice going and the shouty choruses of both Monkey Business and Dancing Star?

Re: Next Single
new video for the next single? What happened to that video from February they pet texted with Neil silhouetted head against a colourful background? What video is THAT then? Loneliness. The bit at the fairground. I don’t think the photo of him in silhouette is a still from the actual video but it’s ...

Re: Next Single
So we´ll be getting the same b-side (in a remixed form, but the same song) in two different official UK singles? I think that never happened before... Well, I'm not sure it's quite as weird as Did you see me coming? being the second single from Yes in June 2009 - nearly three months after appearing...

Re: New album Nonetheless
I believe it's the Hackney Empire in London (after looking at a bunch of pictures in Google). Can anyone corroborate? First Stones w Hackney Diamonds and now this. Anybody able to explain sociologically about Hackney? If my flat was on the other side of the road it would be in Hackney and worth abo...

I hope my postcard is the one Neil carefully placed onto the pile rather than the cards he carelessly tossed on there.

Re: New album Nonetheless
Anyone else finding themselves using the words Nonetheless and Furthermore more frequently in conversation? I was always a big nonethelesser, especially in texts, but I’m conscious of using it more now! Furthermore was the sort of thing I used to drop into uni essays to get the word count up...

Re: New album Nonetheless
I’m sure there’s an appropriate place to have these discussions (though maybe in a more constructive tone) but can we just stick to the new PSB album on here? Every time I open this thread now I feel sick with anxiety and dread.

Re: Nonetheless - Blu-ray
I remember really struggling to pick a Release sleeve on the day, a decision made slightly trickier by having been listening to it for weeks already and knowing how lukewarm I felt about it. Also the Amazon pre-release renderings of the sleeves were different from the final four and had oddly create...

Re: Your Instant Classics
I'm going to steer clear of the big singles even though most of them were instant classics for me, because plenty has already been written about them. Later tonight - I think the first time I heard this delightful ballad may well have been a clip of the live Whistle Test performance during the 1988...

Re: Pet Shop Boys - Orchestra tour (idea)
Concrete was all hand-picked orchestral/orchestra-appropriate songs and it was f****** great.
I'd love this. Not least because I wouldn't feel guilty/ancient for sitting through the whole thing rather than feeling obliged to stand and bob about.
