Re: Disturbing PSB dreams

I was obsessed with a rare and secret PSB album that I didn't own. I made plenty of anxiety dreams about it. I think it came from not owning Relentless at the time, when it came out, but that dream continued a few years further even when I bought both Relentless on vinyl and Very Relentless on cd. I...

Re: AFTER THE EVENT & IN HIS IMAGINATION

I have a preference for minor key songs, so I'd go for After the Event. I'm not really keen on In His Imagination.

Re: Shorter songs - Annoying

There isn't a "3-4 minutes standard". This is the point. There is a huge difference in the structure between a 3 minutes song and a 4 minutes song, we are talking of a matter where even 20 seconds are an important thing. The standard of radio singles and pop songs has lost 1 minute during the last 2...

Re: BBC4 Top of the Pops Repeats

Am I the only one to think that Introspective was originally intended as a sort of Disco 2 for Actually?
I see some elements in common with the Please/Disco release.

Re: Final results of poll on three favorite songs of the "Behaviour era"

The survivors is in my all time top five. I literally “whooped” when they played it at the Albert Hall gig I always skipped that song until I heard it in the 2012 orchestral performance. It suddenly clicked and now it's one of the highlights of the album imo. I agree, It is a very good song, but th...

Exactly my first thought! I'd have used it as a primary rhyme.

Re: The musical that just won't die ;)

One song does not an obsession make. It's not one song: it is the whole agenda EP, this new song Dreamland and in an interview/tour programme/commentary, I don't remember exactly, he eventually turned the subject of The Dictator Decides from Kim to Donald. Consider also that we are talking of a per...

Re: The musical that just won't die ;)

Neil is kinda obsessed with Trump, isn't he? I don't think this obsession could be healthy for his creative process. Agenda was a very firm political statement, both if you agree or not with his political view, but I hope we'll get some different issues on the new album: is getting a little bit bori...

Re: Which last PSB song made you feel excited (like in the old days)?

Axis and then from Super; "Burn" (and probably the whole album - I LOVE Super - I am JUST getting in to its layers - which are deep and hidden.) I have a major problem with Burn. I can't listen to it even if it is a quite good song. It is way too similar to Tom Hooker's Looking for Love, and everyt...

Re: Pet Shop Boys Biopic?

I don't like biopics, in the same way that I don't like fictional hystorical movies. People will assume that what they see in the film is reality.
So I'd say yes for a documentary or a movie without fictional changes and insertions.

Re: Today I listened to Elysium for the first time since 2012...

When I first heard it - It sounded like a record contract filler I just didn't get it. It sound like an old persons album (and I didn't want to be old) As a result I pretty much stopped listening to PSB for a while until I heard the opening chords of Axis. It took me a good number of years to pick ...
