Your 1st and latest PSBs music purchase?

#1 Post by Izione »

As we are in Elysium currently, I thought it may be interesting to think back to your 1st PSBs music purchase and your current purchase. (You can include your favourite item too as a bonus)
(I'm kinda old skool, so I'm thinking downloads for your current are exempt) ;)

I first purchased Please on tape and Surburbia on 12".
Such a luxury for a first purchase as I got to hear Jack the lad and Paninaro for the first time.

My latest is the Leaving preorder bundle on 7", 12" and 2CD Set.

Currently, my favourite item is the VF Yes Vinyl box set.

Times are still good for those who appreciate physical music releases.

'Disco' cassete - 'Elysium' japanese deluxe...

..next will be the 'Leaving' pre-order bundle somewhere, but no less than a day before the release date (what´s the point of pre-order something so sooner?) because maybe there'll be cheaper prices for the bundle on other places...who knows!! ;)

My first purchase was Introspective on cassette.

I love the fact that PSB singles are still being released on physical formats. I've just ordered the Leaving bundle. I think PSB are now the only performer(s) who I would buy single releases for. Interestingly (or not), the first CD single I ever bought was PSB (So hard), and it looks likely that the last one I ever buy will also be PSB.

'Opportunities' single, begged my mum to get this for me. If that doesn't count, then 'So Hard' 7" (by then I was still only 9).

Yesterday, I ordered 'Yes', 'Disco 3' and 'Pandemonium'. I'm getting there.

My first actual purchase was the 12" of Love Comes Quickly but someone bought me the cassete of Please before that. My last was Elysium.

Not my copies (which are long gone along with all my vinyl and cassettes) but this would have been the start of my collection back in '86. My copy of Love comes quickly had the same pic label but a black sleeve.

BoyJohn.
I'm Impressed that your first PSBs purchase was also one of their first releases..
Even more so that it wasn't that commercially known about.

KROQ here in Los Angeles played the hell out of West End girls in late 1984, in fact in was #11 on their year end countdown for that year. Richard Blade in particular was a huge supporter of PSB.

Boring old Discography for me. Within one month followed by all the main albums up through Bilingual (it was '97), and then I started in on the singles.
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'

That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]

First was the remastered Behaviour in 2006 when I was just discovering PSB, as I knew it was a fan favourite. I was vaguely aware Fundamental was out but it didn't occur to me to get it then and I couldn't get hold of the special edition for ages anyway.

Those brilliant little booklets in the remastered Behaviour and Very (and the others later) with all the explanations and pictures were pretty much my introduction to PSB so I'm really glad they did them.

Latest was Elysium, the iTunes version (after the CD). I haven't ordered Leaving yet.

1st was Nightlife in Woolworths after seeing the TV advert for it and being mesmerized by the artwork. Is still my favourite album artwork.

Latest was Elysium (Deluxe Version) on iTunes but I will almost certainly be buying Leaving on physical formats.

Favourite item would either be I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind Of Thing CD set in the original lego slipcase sleeve, Very Relentless or Miracles (Promo CD)

First: Please on cassette

Last: Elysium on CD Japanese deluxe.

Favorite: the uber deluxe Japanese edition of Behaviour in felt box with the extra 3inch CD single and second booklet.
