Even though I don't like this thread I will drop a few questions here:

- Is that true we won't come?
- Can you absolutely know that is true?
- What's the reality of it?
- What's the proof of it?
- How do you know we won't come?

Cheers.

Here's a new PSB song title.

Why does everyone here take everything so seriously?

It's a bit laughable him/her is putting so much effort into persuading us to come to Gijon with all these historical facts, local food etc. but the hard truth is hardly anyone or no-one will come. If I had the money I certainly would because I like what I saw by now, but let's face it, the thread is a bit OTT.
Have a look at my taste in music:

That’s the thing about negative energy, about hatred. It can be positive. It throws into relief all the things you know you like. It tells you, by elimination, what you’re about. Sometimes you can only define yourself by what you hate. Hatred becomes an inspiration; it makes you think, “What I’m doing now I totally believe in, and I don’t care what other people say.” Guided by hatred, you don’t have to follow the herd. - Neil Tennant

This really is a good and suggestive photo - I assume the concert will take place at the monumental building there.

Yes, there is a square inside the building where the concert is going to take place. If you look closely you can watch it too.

By the way, you can watch the beginning of an impressive botanical on the right side of the photo.

Re: PET SHOP BOYS IN GIJON - WHEN WE WON THE OSCARS

#56 Post by Nickname » Sat 17 May 2014, 11:14 pm

On the early 80's one movie called "Volver a Empezar" won the Oscar to the best picture in foreign language, it was the first Oscar from the Spanish Cinema and the first ever movie which won an Oscar in Spanish language and Bable (typical Asturian language).

And the big star of this movie is the place where it takes place, a small city from the north of Spain called Gijon. Of course, in the 80's was a post-industrial place and very different it is nowadays. This is the first scene of this film (I went to my secundary school using the bridge over the train you can watch at the very beginning at that time I didn't live so far from there), you can watch El Molinón the oldest soccer field of the Spanish Football and home of my loving "Sporting de Gijón" (the team of my city) at the end (in fact it is an important part of the movie's plot), you can watch how it was extended for the Spanish World Cup of 1982.

The soundtrack of it is "the canon of pachelbel" (you probably know this track was the origin of "Go West").

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

The Princess of Asturias Letizia Ortiz is going to be the new Queen of Spain. She was born in Oviedo (Asturias) and she is married to Prince of Asturias Felipe and now he is the new King of Spain. They have 2 daughters and the older one is the new Princess of Asturias.

By the way, Princess Letia was a neighbour of mine when I was living in Oviedo many years ago.

Every year they came the Prince and Princess come back to Oviedo because of "Principes de Asturias Awards" almost as famous and important as "Nobel Prizes".
