It gets a 3 from me. And thats being generous.

I just find it really boring. I hear no tune, melody or catchy chorus at all. Really disappointing and i hope the album has more to offer than 12 tracks that all sound like IS & TPK, ie tuneless club, 90s trance!
Its taken me all of my life to find you

I don't like it at all. Although only heard once, was very disappointed.

First verse is awful crammed full of words. And the ending is terrible can't imagine my opinion changing.

Edit. Ok so I was wrong. After 4 listens it's much better. Still don't like the spoken section, the ending is better.

I've gone from a 4, to a 5, to a 7. Its good. A lot better than the first few listens and ive always felt songs sounded better on the radio.

You can tell why its been chosen as a single. Very different and cant wait for the video.

My immediate reaction is how wonderful Neil's voice sounds, the song is growing on me, it's allot more commercial than I was expecting, time will tell if it turns out to be a PSB classic ? :)

After two listens, I can't say that I have found many best bits to be quoted. It is fun though. I am going with a 5.5. It could grow to a 6.

It may be a cliche but I totally agree that this song is a grower and sounded pretty good on the radio.
I hated it on first listen but like it now. Not their best single ever but it's OK.
I prefer Inner Sanctum as a track but it is not single material of course.
I started giving this track a 3 or 4 but now give it 7.
Looking forward to remixes and Sterling Void will do a good job with this.

Listened a few times now and it doesn't grab me, as a lead single I think it is weak. Production isn't that great either, never really been a fan of Stuart Price.

Maybe after a few more listens it will appeal more.

    7.
Definitely better than "Inner Sanctum" and pretty listenable, but self-repeat isn't something to strive for, especially for Neil & Chris. Unless this will be paired with high-grade promotional video full of romance and nostalgia, surely it will miss UK Top40 (maybe even Top100). Also, I can't imagine "The Pop Kids" and "Vocal" played live in same set (unless Price will remix one of those tracks significantly).

    In comparison:
    I'm with Stupid: 7
    Love Etc.: 8
    Winner: 8
    Vocal: 9
"I think it’s an amazingly good album, I’ve got to be honest with you. It’s one of the albums I feel most proud of. But for people who don’t really know us, and have a sort of an idea about us, ‘Electric’ is more what the Pet Shop Boys are meant to be."
(Neil Tennant, speaking about "Elysium" on the eve of "Electric" release.)

Have given it a 7 though have only heard it through the laptop so far. It reminds me of something else -can't put a name to it at the moment.

After hearing it a few times, I can finally say... its ok. Its not great but perfectly listenable. I guess I need to be an obsessive or the lyrics hitting close to home to be particularly moved by it like never before.

The Pop Kids, which I heard for the first time this noon, is just perfection to my ears, POP perfection!!

I can only recommend to anyone who denies... you have to listen to this song with good headphones or on a good sound system!!!

Anyway, I rate The Pop Kids 9 out of 10.
