The Sunday Times article is not a review - though it does mention that Super is "a fantastic album". It's an interview, so we'll try to find a place for it elsewhere rather than on this thread.

Drico, if you were reviewing Super in a magazine how many stars out of five would you give it?

Oh, I'm sorry. It's confusing when the page says "Review" in bold letters and you can't read the whole article. But then again... that's even better to find an interview instead of just album review ;)!

Hurrah, thank you!
"There’s a balance between observation, even analysis, and mindless euphoria — which is, in some ways, how you deal with the reality of life. That’s what you like, isn’t it?” [Neil] says, turning to Lowe and sounding as if he’s about to pat him on the head.
“Yes, it does sound a bit wrong,” Lowe agrees. “Maybe it should be ‘morony’.” A pause.
“Actually, that sounds just like a Pet Shop Boys B-side, doesn’t it?”

Don't scare me, please :D.
"I think it’s an amazingly good album, I’ve got to be honest with you. It’s one of the albums I feel most proud of. But for people who don’t really know us, and have a sort of an idea about us, ‘Electric’ is more what the Pet Shop Boys are meant to be."
(Neil Tennant, speaking about "Elysium" on the eve of "Electric" release.)

I think bathos was a side character in Ulysses 31.

Mentioned on Wayne's site

Not really a review, but being on the "must list" in Entertainment Weekly this week should help move a few copies. Circulation about 1.7 million.

SUPER
Pet Shop Boys
The legendary British electro-pop duo are still kicking—and celebrating their third decade together with this ebullient new album. The record's energy is at its best on the fluffy and unabashed '90s-rave throwback track "The Pop Kids."

This has me puzzled.

The Purcell reference would refer, I would think, to Love is a bourgeois construct on Electric. Even though it's from a movie, the original musical sequence is Purcell (the British baroque composer). So are they saying that yet another track is based on Purcell, or is the writer mixing things up here?

Just asking! :)
