Pet Shop Boys Biopic?

#1 Post by romy » Thu 30 May 2019, 7:48 pm

Hmm,saw Rocketman in Germany today,think it was a good film.Bohemian Rapsody was great,too.Then I read today,that a new Biopic,is in progress,about Boy George.

One One side, one Author speculate,if,in future ,George Michael,or Pet Shop Boys could be the next one.

I think, this would be great. For the case, that this would be happened, what do you think, could be the title?I would say "Opportunities" .And which actors could be play Neil and Chris?

I went to see Bohemian Rhapsody at the cinema. Good film, but my experience was spoiled by people getting up in front of me all the time. All I could see was a little silhouette of a man!

I’ll get my coat...

What on earth would be the story arch? Neil wanted a scone for breakfast but the bakery was sold out?
I sincerely *love* Disco 2 and listen to it straight through regularly.

 Well he did say being at number one was like having a cup of tea.

I'm with you - a PSB biopic would likely not be that exciting unless there are some skeletons in the cupboard to make it more "movie-worthy". Lets face it, Freddie and Elton were/are extremely flamboyant characters and a movie about them makes total sense. Neil and Chris, not so much - they were never being boring, but I don't think your average movie-goer will care enough.

1987 - Neil is in studio with Dusty. She is being a major pain singing one syllable at a time.

1988 - Trevor is in the studio and needs MORE COWBELL (I mean more strings) on Left to my own devices.

1993 - Chris plays Neil Go West. Neil frowns saying this will never be a big hit.

1996 - Neil and Chris are driving through latin america, raving at latin discos.

1999 - Nightlife tour back room - Should we give it all up...no answer

2002 - Uni Tour. Neil and Chris smoke some weed on campus? I dunno.

2009 - The denouement, Brit Awards moment

2016 - Any old carp will do now
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'
"He couldn't have fell off that hard" Ain't no way
"What happened to the way you was rappin' when you was scandalous
That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]
[BOOSH! BOOSH!] (What was that?) Pet Shop Boys

Let Scienceguy write the screenplay and Jean-Luc Godard direct it, so it gets incomprehensible enough to win at Cannes.

That would make It Couldn't Happen Here look mainstream...

Honest,I can't understand people, who say, that the life of Neil and Chris was to boring for a biopoc. What did we see at the Queen Movie? They met each other, make music etc, after he told about Aids, the film finished.By Elton we see about his childness etc.

I see no reason,if Boy George, with 2 or 3_big hits ,become his own movie, why Pet Shop Boys should be boring.

Neils childness, the working at Journalist, meeting with topstars at this point, the dating with chris, the first hits, the costumes, their help for comeback with Dusty,Liza etc.

For me it is a big story.

And,for sure,the hits.As I was in Rocketman,the people in the cinema,was singing sometimes,at crocodile rock,I'm still standing,and your song.The others wasn't so exiting.

But in a Pet Shop Boys Film,we would have these huge "singalong" hits .......

It wouldn't surprise me. Cinema tends to like the safe bet, that's why there are so many interminable sequels released. With a trend of the musical journey through an artist's back catalogue established by ABBA in the theatre and copied ad nauseum, a Queen biopic followed closely by an Elton biopic is likely to spawn band wagon jumpers looking to make relatively 'easy money' if the latter is also successful. I'd expect George Michael next.
And at the end/ Your funny Uncle staring / At all your friends / With military bearing

What did Chris say about the plot pitch for ICHH (and most of their filmclips) "we're going on a strange journey" ... or something like that.

Thing is, I see ICHH as more or less a "personal" PSB project, even though it's not a biopic.

There are quite a few personal settings/elements in that movie.

An ethereal, melancholy journey matches them better than a rocker-style, warts and all biopic.

How does Elton John like his salads?
With Rocket man!

I don't like biopics, in the same way that I don't like fictional hystorical movies. People will assume that what they see in the film is reality.
So I'd say yes for a documentary or a movie without fictional changes and insertions.

The fact that they’ve kept themselves out of the press for the last 35years would hint at they’d never agreee to this!!!
