Final results of poll on rating Hotspot songs

#1 Post by geowayne » Sun 08 Mar 2020, 4:45 am

The final results are in for my survey of the past week, in which I asked my site visitors to rate each of the songs on Hotspot (except for the previously rated "Dreamland"), as well as several recent single b-sides, as they compare to other Pet Shop Boys songs. And the song that received the highest average rating was:

* "Will-o-the-wisp," with an average rating of 7.862 (out of 10).

To see the complete results, please visit my "Commentary" site at http://www.geowayne.com/psbhtml.htm and select one of the "Past Survey Results" options in the top navigation bar or click the appropriate link on my "What's New?" page.

I'm following this up with another, much shorter request for your ratings, this time focusing on three recent PSB videos. This time, as for my past music-video polls, the scale is 1-5, with 1 meaning "one of the worst PSB music videos," 3 meaning "an average PSB music video," and 5 meaning "one of the best PSB music videos." So please, when you're ready, register your ratings right there on my home page.

Thanks to everyone who voted in last week's survey! And I wish you all a marvelous week ahead!

wayne, thanks for posting the results.
not really any surprises in the rankings from what i've seen.

i can't remember, but were the votes 0-10, or 1-10,
because the results were 0-10.

anyways, good to see some more of the surveys still going on.

Hard to argue with those results… the top five tracks are the stand out future classics from this album and its singles.

Will-o-the-wisp
Decide
Burning the Heather
An Open Mind
Hoping for a Miracle

The range for the ratings in that poll were 0-10. I always use the 0-10 range for rating songs, whereas for rating music videos the range is 1-5. Why the difference? Beats me. It's just the way I've always done it, and I can't change it now.

Thanks!

oh, ok, that makes sense.

i guess, if i wanted to scale them to the same, i could just shift them by one.
For the videos that would move them to 0-4, and that would have the same range.
