Honestly, I think they love it. They've always been into trashy europop and this is a gem, IMO. I'm sure we'll know for sure in an upcoming issue of literally.DazzerUKUK wrote:Im sure the Boys are very proud. Not.

what i gather from it is they're both 16 and their top 3 psb ditties are:
domino dancing, shopping and i'm not scared.....i'd be a bit surprised if they were really into the boys.

Pet Shop Boys have written in their website's guest book. They have also written every song on the new duo West End Girls' repertoir.alig wrote:can someone please translate this swedish article?

”West End Girls” - 20 years ago it was the Pet Shop Boys' first hit. Today it's the name two 16 year old girls from Haninge [a Stockholm suburb] use when they do covers of the songs of the British synth duo. The pet shop boys from London have gotten their own A-Teens. And they seem to like it.
Last week West End Girls' first single was released, a version of Domino Dancing. On the girls' website PSB's Neil Tennant says that 'Chris (Lowe) likes it a lot'.
-It's siiiiick! [It's amazing, that is..] They are our biggest idols and they know we exist, Isabelle Erkendal says.
She discovered Pet Shop Boys already at the age of four
– I remember liking Can You Forgive Her? the most. I sang it, but it turned out ”forgibbah” instead.
Her friend Rosanna Jirebeck soon got with it. Together they've 'always' listened to synth generally and PSB specifically. Last year the idea to West End Girls was born. With the help of Isabelle's father, who is a musician, they recorded a demo and label SonyBMG liked it. Now they're recording the album 'Goes Petshopping'.
-The hardest part is to pick songs. There are so many good ones, Rosanna Jirebeck says.
[Interviewer:] Pet Shop Boys themselves have covered a few artists , like Village People and Elvis Presley. Would you make a cover of one of their covers?
- We tried doing (Elvis') 'You are always on my mind'. But then 'It's a sin' got squeezed in, Isabelle Erkendal says.
West End Girls
Isabelle Erkendal, 16 years, Haninge resident, first year at the high school at Fryshuset, studying rock song.
Sings, therefore the duo's Neil Tennant.
Previously member of Peaches who had the hit 'Rosa helikopter' [Pink helikopter].
Rosanna Jirebeck, 16 years, Haninge resident, first year in social science high school.
Plays synth, therefore the duo's Chris Lowe.
Top three Pet Shop Boys according to West End Girls:
1. ”Domino dancing”
2. ”Shopping”
3. ”I'm not scared”

That's a rather unusual choice. Props for the interview, though!fluffmoln wrote: 2. ”Shopping”

Actually, this is an EXTREMELY GOOD IDEA.Oznerol wrote:I won't be surprised if PSB write a new song for his album...or if maybe they give 'Baby', now that Alcazar is out of the game...
This project is already a marketer's dream -- a proven idea & just quirky enough to get them noticed.
But having them record a BRAND NEW PSB song along with the covers would make this an ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE.
And ( I'd even predict ) a UK Top 10 Hit..

Ok, But, Alcazars manager Henrik Johnson, said after he had listen to it that it was brilliant! melancholy, grandiose, dramatic, electronic. Like a late being boring follwow-upBlueSwan wrote:No, but the title says it all, really.Pertan wrote:Have you heard it?BlueSwan wrote: But "Baby" sucks.

According to their website they entered the Swedish chart at No. 6.
Furthermore there is an video interview with them on www.musicshop.se when you click on "Kampanjsite West End Girls" on the left hand side. However, it's in Swedish.
Couldn't listen to it myself yet... - and my Swedish is not perfect.
