Besides, the album producer (Stuart Price / Jacques Lu Cont / Les Rythmes Digitales) has always been a declared fan of the Pet Shop Boys, so it's not that strange for him to put some nods to the PSB music in his songs.
PSB should really think about calling Stuart Price to make some music together, it would be an awesome collaboration. At least I hope for a Jacques Lu Cont remix of one single from their new album.

This is what producer Stuart Price said about the nods to the PSB in Madonna's new album... and a surprising revelation from Madonna:
Q: Let's talk 'music'! The two Pet Shop Boys references on the album are amazing. Do you hold your hands up to loving the Boys?
A: I do, yes. I mean, who can not love the Pet Shop Boys? That's the thing. They were the first ever pop act I ever listened to. All of Chris Lowe's parts… When I very first sat there with 'My First Keyboard' I was trying to work out how they did it, how they made those rhythms, how they got those sounds. I love the 'Disco' album with all the 12" mixes and I suppose it's not surprising fifteen years later that when it all pops up on the record I think 'oh, this sounds like the Pet Shop Boys.' I'm not going to try and disguise that, they're a big influence.
Q: So it's fair to say that Madonna wouldn't be where she is today without the Pet Shop Boys?
A: She really loves them as well. Because they worked with Bobby Orlando in New York really early on, and I'm guessing she would've been around there at that same period. So I think there's a huge kind of cross-over there. It's funny because when we were doing 'Jump' I didn't think she'd know who the Pet Shop Boys were but she was the one who was screaming 'Pet Shop Boys! I f*** love them!'

Actually, Virtual1, I think you're talking nonsense! She uses the 4 bar intro of Gimme Gimme Gimme sampled into the chorus of Hung Up. There is not really anything more than a hint of the rest of GGG anywhere else in HU.
If she took the whole Abba song then where is the part where she samples the "There's not a soul out there..." section. Even the chorus "Gimme Gimme Gimme a man after midnight" bears no more than a nod to Hung Up.

A _hint_??? - if you find ANY second of the tune that DOESN'T come from 'gimme, gimme, gimme' please let me know! - she might not have sampled the _entire_ song, but her tune does NOT contain any other part than samples from ABBA:s original !

So, I've heard mention of "West End Girls", "Being Boring" and "Paninaro" relating to what Madonna's done with PSB tracks: has she given one of those tracks the same treatment as from Abba's "Gimme Gimme Gimme"??
Which are the songs in question? I've only skipped through the album, and have picked up on the West End Girls influence in Jump. It's not stand-out obvious in the same way as the Abba reference in Hung Up of course. What's the other track?
I have listened the whole album many times now and I just picked up the West End Girls influence in "Jump", no evident signs of "Being boring" or "Paninaro" anywhere.
Just listening to Madonnas new album for the very first time. "Jump" is almost as obviously based on "West end girls" as "Hung up" is on the Abba song, really!
Nice Psb tribute there from Madonna and Stuart Price. Don't know why the guy was talking about "Being Boring" in the QX article, he must have mixed up the titles..haven't noticed any influences from "Paninaro" either.
There are no Being Boring references. That Swdish reporter must have been smoking dope. There are clear West End girls references on "Jump" and weak Paninaro references on "I Love New York" (the timpani rolls).
