I think that it's a very brave subject to write a song about, particularly one which empathises with the terrorists. It's probably why it couldn't be a single - if biblical references are too much for EMI then imagine a song about terrorism which humanises rather than demonises the protagonists?

I think that this is the most perfect lyric that he's ever written. The song is pure poetry.

it is a majestic lyric, isn't it. The ground shifting beneath his feet, the welling emotion as the room becomes a court and he a helpless subject at the mercy of a monarch.

I also think Luna Park is lyrically masterful:

Every night we go
to the latest horror show
and hear the screams
in Luna dreams

the metaphor of the song takes on a life of it's own here - this is my favourite lyric on the album (thus far): it seems to sum up what Fundamental is about..

to me its pretty obvious about terrorists.and I dont think there is any sympathetic tone in the lyric ,he is just stating the facts of a particular event.

these terrorists all have these feelings of brotherhood and one of they will die yet see each other on the otherside in paradise.

indefinite leave to remain/twentieth century/integral/luna park/fugitive.

these are all relevant to today. at least it isnt about freakin russia.

yeah for me luna park is about people trying to live in a oblivious fantasy world but someday, something quite possibly a nuclear detonation will end all of it so much so it might cause a final nuclear exchange that could pretty much end mankind.its a great anlogy neil came up with.

'Fugitive' can be seen as a song about terrorists... or about soldiers sent to war, IMO. It's a song of two people about to die because of an imposed ideal and also because someone has promised them a Heaven when they die this way. It's such a sad yet beautiful song.

No, he certainly doesn't sympathise with their ideology but he does present them as human beings which is something your President would probably throw him in Guantanamo Bay for.

we call people inhuman all the time. its a legit word.its not like they change species but we do define people by behaviour.its what seperates us from animals. if one looks like a human yet say pushes whole families into a gas chamber to exterminate a whole race, well for me, they lost the right to be called human.

been meaning to see that. I heard they actually filmed in the areas where bombings happen ever there.no hollywood set for that movie.I think it got some good reviews.
