Album due October 2, apparently.

And this morning I was the first person to break the news to My Robot Friend that Robbie had covered We're The Pet Shop Boys. His reply (which I hope Howard won't mind my repeating):

"ha. that's funny. thanks for the info. you really have the scoop on this stuff. i'm excited to hear it. i suppose they'll tell me about it when ever the "official" channels of information release it.

The 80s
She's Madonna (made her name in the 80s)
We're The Pet Shop Boys (made their name in the 80s)
And if Lovelight is indeed the ABBA cover then that was released not far off, in 1979, and King Of Bongo recorded 1990/1991.

Excuse me, honey, I'm not an "80s act", like certain old queens I could mention. And if She's Madonna is based around their experiences of working with me on Sorry then I shall have to remind the old fruits that they signed a confidentiality agreement which means these old has-beens are legally forbidden to reveal any details of that farm-themed bisexual brothel I set up backstage at the Brits. They certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves anyway. Especially Chris and that chicken.

Why the hell is he covering "We're The Pet Shop Boys"? Disgusting.

His unpleasant 'pub singer' voice will sound dreadful on such a minimalist production. I love the PSB's version.

I find it strange that somebody else did WTPSB in the first place and not PSB!

Seems even more strange, stupid and pointless for Robbie Williams to do a cover of it.

No more pointless than anyone other than Neil and Chris (ie My Robot Friend) singing a song called We're The Pet Shop Boys, really.

I would love it if PSB had a vocal cameo on the RW version - probably Neil backing vox on the chorus, but also if they reversed their version of the bridge ie Neil quotes the songs and Chris sings the "What have I.." bit.

1974? Harumph, I was already sneaking out of the house to catch my favourite male singer in concert on the Diamond Lights tour that year. But where is Glenn Hoddle now when you need him. Since he did that duet with Mick Jagger on Come On Eileen (Well Only If I must) he's never been the same.
