Concert is Concrete

#1 Post by AlfonsoPSB »

From the OS:

20 September 2006
The name of the PSB live album has changed.
The double-CD of PSB's Mermaid Theatre concert is now called "Concrete" and will be released on October 23. "Concrete" was Neil and Chris's original title which they changed to the more explanatory "Concert" but at the last minute decided they preferred the original title. The music stays the same, however: the complete concert featuring guest appearances by Robbie Williams, Frances Barber and Rufus Wainwright.

Like Vince said, now that's a PSB album title!

Very strange... I'd like to know the logic behind the choice.

I actually prefer this title over 'Concert'.

Is it a deliberate (near) anagram? Concert/concrete

I did think it was a little odd that online music stores such as HMV Japan had the title listed as Concrete last week. They couldn't all have made the same typo!

I felt the same way when I saw the listing on Sirendisc ... ya know , it must've been 4:20 when they typed that one ....

Anywho ... it seems odd. I guess it's just another of those PSB single-entendres.
I like it here ~~ wherever it is ...

"Concert" is strange name for PSB release, to much primitive in my opinion (please, don't remind me about Perfomance, Single and Release...) and not suitable well for description of his wonderful content. Yet i didn't get what "Concrete" here means , to be honest. Only if a friend is right:

Even if so, that is really good: we don't need to beware of left our finger-prints on his case.

Could you give us a link, please? There will be some extras on it?
"I think it’s an amazingly good album, I’ve got to be honest with you. It’s one of the albums I feel most proud of. But for people who don’t really know us, and have a sort of an idea about us, ‘Electric’ is more what the Pet Shop Boys are meant to be."
(Neil Tennant, speaking about "Elysium" on the eve of "Electric" release.)

Soft as Concrete?

Midnight Oil had a song called "Concrete" on their 1998 album Redneck Wonderland , but where that album - and the song in particular - was "hard as concrete", you can't really call Pet Shop Boys' music [so] hard... I wonder where they got that title from?
