No.15 is better than 18 for sure. Maybe the publicity surrounding Robbie's release from rehab looking tanned and healthy helps the impressionable British public think more positively about his single. If only he'd hop on a plane and do Top Of The Pops now....

On the first few listens they sound the same!!

Love the Chris Menace remix.

One says Album Edit and one says Album Version. I read a review that said they'd subtly altered the levels of the instruments.

Flame me if this has been mentioned, but the 2-track CD and DVD of She's Madonna lists the writers of the track as:

R.Willliams/C.Tennant/C.Lowe

Strangely they managed to get it right on the Maxi CD.

Shame Read My Mind slipped to 21 though. Two simultaneous PSB-related top 20 hits would have been a first since, what, 1990?

Jesus, you would think EMI would know what their names are by now.
i guess the excitement of having 3 big names on a release name Robbie, Madonna and whoarethey Pet Shop Boys, might have led them onto this lapse.. after all, N.T. is just HALF the PSB.. the other part is C.Lowe innit

I would have to agree. It's a new entry. And unlike PSB singles which come in and go out immediately, Robbie is likely to climb up. Not sure it's going to be as huge as it should. It's a real shame about the awful video (I mean honestly, who wants to look at all those ageing trannies?)
Despite him being in rehab or whatever, a good video ensures promotion even without interviews.

I'm not surprised about the chart result of She's Madonna. Of course it was going to enter the Top 20, thanks to loyal Robbie and PSB fans. If you take the situation into consideration (lack of promotion, no new B-sides, Robbie in rehab, negativism about Robbie, winning NME Award for worst album, controversial video, lack of airplay etc), the result is actually quite satisfying.

Funnily enough, Pet Shop Boys never had a #16-hit before, so it's an exclusive.

In the Dutch charts, She's Madonna isn't moving this week. It stayed at 4 in the Mega Top 50 last Saturday, it's also a non-mover in the Top 40 of next Friday. It stays at #2. In the single sales Top 100, the song was at #3, after last week.

The sad thing is that Rudebox is still absent from UK Top 75 album chart. This confirms that She's Madonna has indeed got to #16 solely with the help of PSB's and Robbie's fanbases and means, that the single will plummet next week.

Oh, you and your predictions...

I actually think that this single has WAY more potential. If there wasn't so much negativism about Robbie at the moment, I would even dare to say it stays in the Top 20 for another week. But since it's fashionable to NOT like Robbie, it will indeed drop quickly.

In fact it's not even close to the UK Top 75... - according to somebody on UKmix.org:
"the album sold just 700 copies last week in the UK, and was the no.276 album."

So it's safe to say that "She's Madonna" didn't exactly give a boost to album sales. Still, given the current Robbie situation, I find the #16 chart result for a 3rd single from a buthered album pretty acceptable.
