What about the rest of the world? I just think you´re thinking in European continent! LOL
A brand new collection of their recent b´sides and bonus tracks is very necessary to the rest of the world market where CD singles aren´t avaiable commercially and never did.
I agree with you here Fun Tha! :D Where are you from (if you dont mind my asking) ?

i've found 1 or 2 CD/DVD singles here in Chennai.. and i remember that the DVD singles cost a bomb! (coz they're imports? )

thought of buying some cd singles last week but couldnt find any. Found the DVD single of Home & Dry .. but thats not one of my top 10 tunes anyway, so i didnt want to shell out ~$12 on it..

I haven't bought Disco 4 and won't be buying either until they're well and truly in the bargain bin. I really don't understand the point of compilations pitched at fans that are redundant to those said fans.... they should either do a compilation pitched at the masses, that will give them a good dose of PSB, or do a compilation pitched to the fans, which will actually give them something new.

Disco 4 and Alternative 2 should be playlists - not compilations.

True... but this is a more an argument for including them on a later Further Listening compilation, than an otherwise completely redundant Alternative 2.

For me an Alternative 2 would not be redundant. I'd much rather buy such a product to get all b-sides at once, than to buy several albums I already have, just to get the Further Listening discs. In my opinion, the Further Listening series is more redundant!

Fair enough - you've got your view I've got mine - there is no right and wrong here.

I would argue that the FL series is far from redundant, especially as PSB seem to (from the Nightlife period onwards - where the FL series has yet to cover) have a lot of "Further Listening" tracks which aren't actually b-sides per se... C2H tracks, collaborations, demo versions, single edits, and most recently, Transfer. Virtually none of which would be covered by Alternative 2.

Yeah, we have the regular releases only, NOT the special editions, NOT the singles.
All I have got until now is import stuff from UK, never found them in local record shops!
I´m able to buy import stuff but most people over here can´t do it.
For this reason I wish ALTERNATIVE VOL 2 to be released!

Finally, I took some time to answer in this topic.
Yes, I checked some tech sources just to prove that you're right when I'm wrong about CD time. Well, I would like to get b-sides as much as they can fit into 2CD, so it's rather pleasingly to be wrong here.
Also I want to say, I strongly disagree with retrofuturist - I'm on Radiophonic side: nothing is redundant. I wait FL reissues, DVD remasters, new live albums, boxsets, "Alternative 2", collaborations compilation and anything else that Boys/Parlophone will bring in the future. I even like "Disco 4" - certainly, I'm PSBonkers.

Sorry, but it sounds to me like your next words could be "with 128 kbps mp3 for free!".
"I think it’s an amazingly good album, I’ve got to be honest with you. It’s one of the albums I feel most proud of. But for people who don’t really know us, and have a sort of an idea about us, ‘Electric’ is more what the Pet Shop Boys are meant to be."
(Neil Tennant, speaking about "Elysium" on the eve of "Electric" release.)

Drem,

Sure... why not... they could release literally a billion things and we could each pick the products that we wanted the most. Wonderful. Woohoo! That'd be great, unless you're PSBonkers in which case you're also now very poor too! :P

Realistically, there's only a certain number of releases we're going to get in any given period... and I think Further Listening compilations are of much higher value/priority to fans than a compilation that offers no new tracks.

Realistically, an Alternative 2 release means a delay and/or a reduced likelihood of additional Further Listening releases so be careful what you wish for...
