PSB + new artists= very encouraging.

Long story short: the NY Times had an interesting feature story about up and coming musicians who use technology to essentially become one-man (or woman) bands, doing everything on their CD's. or albums. or releases. Live, too.

Owen Pallett- remember the name- is a talented young "singer, songwriter, violinist, pianist, bassist, harpsichordist, engineer and everything else that makes up the indie-rock one-man band Final Fantasy "- I was intrigued enough by the article (link below) to look him up and find his site last week. It's a good read btw for you guys with home studios, and Pallett does seem an interesting artist.

Here is the kicker: on his site under "upcoming projects" , it said "Pet Shop Boys-strings/arrangements 2008 ". THAT IS ALL. I know it's not much, not a big deal, but a clue to the people PSB might be working with on the new album, and if they are working with innovative young people like the guy described in this article, it is indeed exciting to me that they are proactive to work with young fresh talent. Classically talented with strings, a devoted following, technologically innovative, and i do believe, gay.
I can easily believe they'd want to work with him, and be so ahead of the curve.

Kicker 2: After reading this last week, I Googled but could find no other mention. Even worse I cannot remember WHICH site of his I read this on! Typical 20-something, he has sites on MySpace, (ugly) one for his "band", I think one on Facebook.. I can't find it now!
You might have to take my word that they are likely working with this interesting young guy. Which is pretty in-character and cool of PSB- think of all the remixers who were unknown , or She-Boom, or Anne Dudley on strings, til they worked with PSB.

Anyway , it's a piece of the puzzle for the next Cd, sorry i haven't more info. Just happy the Boys are adventurous and not relying on stale formula- working with young talents like this, whose work isn't necessarily dance music, is encouraging.

Effects pedals, instrument cables, patch cords and microphone stands took up most of the space, radiating out from the laptop and sound card that Pallett was fussing over, and an ominous hum filled the room. The amps were arranged in a loose semicircle, vaguely reminiscent of Stonehenge: Pallett spent the day before writing a computer program to coordinate the various outputs, and the impression he made now was less that of an up-and-coming rock star than of a crackpot inventor, à la Nikola Tesla, sequestered in his workshop. “Oh! This is exciting,” he whispered at one point, giggling to himself nerdishly. “I’ve never made it this far before.”...

Anne Dudley was a founder member of the Art Of Noise, and had featured on hits by ABC, Frankie etc before PSB. She even co-wrote part of The Lexicon Of Love.
