Erasure's next hits compilation: Let's Spoil PSB's Big Day!

#1 Post by Loins Of London »

Received the following e-mail alert this afternoon. Sorry it's all been a hoax. PSB are NOT getting The Brit, it's actually their deadly rivals who should have been confirmed with the award last Sunday:

To be released on the 23rd February 2009 is "Total Pop! The First 40 Hits" - a collection of Erasure's first 40 hits which features all the hit singles from Erasure's five no. 1 albums, eight top 10 singles plus a brand new remix of 'Always' by Jeremy Wheatley.

As well as a double CD package and digital download, Total Pop! will also be released as a special four-disc deluxe box set which includes Pop! (remastered since its original release), Pop2!, a live CD and a DVD featuring classic BBC performances from 1986–2005, which includes television performances ranging from 'Sometimes' on 'Top of the Pops', 'Ship Of Fools' on 'Wogan' to an appearance on 'Later With Jools'.

-- Pop! Remixed --

Released on the 9th February 2009 is "Pop! Remixed", which features the brand new Jeremy Wheatley remix of 'Always' plus remixes from Vince Clarke, Mark Picchiotti, Manhattan Clique, Komputer and Sweden's Sound Factory.

23rd Feb? The week after The Brits?

Preceded by a remix album on 9th Feb? The week before The Brits?

Sounds to me like someone at Clarke & Bell-End Towers is deliberately trying to piss on PSB's parade and cash in on their accolade at the same time.

BTW, Erasure's label, Mute, are owned by EMI. :eh:

Erasure are being presented with the Outstanding Contribution to Leotards on 18th February so it is probably connected with that.

Nowt to worry about.

There are more people in Pet Shop Boys than there are fans of Erasure anyway! :D

They've taken PSB's award in good spirit over at Erasure Towers anyway. It's yet another stab in the back for poor Vince and Andy.

Someone paged?

I think February will be a great month for synthpop. PSB get well-deserved recognition, and Erasure release a comprehensive collection of amazing pop.

All good.

Read this comment:

So they are using PSB's sucess to promote their new album? Quite clever i suppose but how many hits packages are Erasure going to release? The last 10 years haven't exactly brought many hits, so what they going to stick on it?

I don't know why people always compare PSB to Erasure (beyond the obvious i.e. that they are an electro duo). PSB are in a totally different league. They have done so much more than Erasure and are just way more innovative and creative.

Erasure got stuck in a rut some time around their 1994 album 'I say, I say, I say' and have never recovered. PSB on the other hand have continued trying to do new things and have as a result gained the respect even of people who don't necessarily like their music.

So what if Erasure are releasing yet another Greatest Hits. They haven't had a 'proper' hit since 'Always' almost fifteen years ago anyway.
I'm always waiting...

YAWN, Jesus you cannot stop going on about a group you apparently hate, Are you Ill or something?

Oh I forgot Erashur (Ha Ha Ha very funny  ) Have only had 5 number 1 albums which pretty much proves how shit you claim they are.
If you really don't like them and you feel the way you do then why not ignorer the Erashur (Ha Ha Ha) threads?

I bet if Neil and Chris liked them then you would.
