The Pets and Erasure are ultimately both EMI acts at the end of the day. If EMI think they can promote Erasure by scheduling their new greatest hits album around the time of the Pets' Outstanding Contribution Brit then so be it. EMI's ultimate objective is always going to be to make money. We all know how often the Pets' own release dates have been altered by EMI. Who knows, maybe Erasure's album release date will eventually be pushed back by a few weeks anyway! This is EMI we are talking about, after all.

Which, ladies and gentlemen, coincidentally and succinctly sums up Erasure's career, post-1994.

How does the PSB award promote Erasure's new greatest hits? Are PSB doing a cover of Erasure at the awards or something?

To me Erasure seem tacky and the first time I came across them I thought "oh my god, a pop group gayer than the Pet Shop Boys" ahem *the video ...love to hate you*

Oh, come on. Even Barbra Streisand would have copied the bingo and bare buttocks highlight of Erasure's 1992 dates had she been able to tour then.

And how many of them can the man in the street remember? Er...
Do tell, mouthpiece for man on street. Glad to see you've been appointed ambassador to all things non-PSB.

I hate to say it, but anyone who thinks Erasure have any say whatsoever in when a greatest hits album is going to be released is just showing their nascent intelligence. Suffice to say, Vince and Andy probably would be lucky to have 10% of that clout at EMI.

Also, I don't think anyone here should try and detract from PSB's big day - it's a well-deserved award and I won't get dragged into mudslinging. Obviously, I think Easure's songwriting, sound, and singing are better than PSB's, but this award for them is amazing and really is well-deserved - they are one of the greatest pop groups to have ever been around by far.

I generally hear a Pet Shop boys song on the radio, roughly once a week, where I come from.

I'm assuming that's despite, or people because of, the dodgy Ulster-ish accent in C2H. :shhh:

Oh, and I just knew there is a good reason why the only thing Leicester is famous for is cheese. :gag:
