But they're not part of the Erasure catalogue though, are they. So in that respect they don't count. You amusingly referred to Vince and Andy's "numerous solo projects" and yet, as I already pointed out, Bell-End issued one, and Vince hasn't released one at all. Try again...

Do fan club cd's count in your rules or would the unreleased songs and demos Erasure have released be an inconvenience to your fantasy list!

Fan Club-only CDs are one of two areas where V&A have the edge over N&C, the other being the number of concert videos released. Though I would suggest that if you include all the material Neil has uploaded to the OS in the Exclusive Tracks section then they would actually outnumber Erasure on the demos and rarities front.

So maybe PSB have written more songs than Erasure. Please explain what relevance that has on anything (if it is true!) Does it make Erasure lazy if they have not written as much as PSB?

By your logic you're suggesting that Boyzone must be quite good, and are a more talented bunch of musicians than PSB as they've had more No.1 albums.

Your right 5 number 1 albums doesn't prove they are near the top of the tree, but neither does it mean you are because you have released a soundtrack album or musical (both didn't do too well, but that doesn't matter does it) and certainly not just because you have done a remix or released more records than Erasure!

I'm not getting the whole "lazy" concept for either band. As for Erasure, writing all those albums' worth of songs plus around the same amount of b-sides/EP songs etc would hardly be classified as "lazy" (perhaps Shedloads More or Underwear think so, though). I wouldn't classify either band as remotely lazy.

And this whole "Bell-end and Baldie" thing... it plays into the stereotype of "certain industry people" (you still haven't told me exactly what you do, other than constantly talk about how important/high level/celebrity-interwoven you are). One can easily call the other duo "Ass-end and Almost Baldie" but, now, wouldn't that make me look like a pedantic, uneducated buffoon? Agree with that. Erasure released some fantastic stuff pre 1990 to be fair but after that, they declined very badly. I know most bands decline in terms of sales but the quality is still there, i.e PSB. I thought the Union album and Other songs were so bad and it seemed they were that desperate to get back in the big time, they tried too hard. Their last album wasn't good either and maybe they have totally run out of idea's now. A video sat on a toilet ffs. We shall see with what comes next but whats more surprising is that Vince allowed this shambles. Bell you can understand but not Vince Clarke.

That's funny, because I feel PSB material has declined massively since the 80's. Erasure's 90's output was fantastic - my favourite album of all time is Chorus (1991), my favourite pop song of all time is "Always" (1994), the self-titled was a masterpiece (1995), Cowboy was a spectacular, simple pop (1997), Loveboat was an experimental album with great songs on it that one must invest in to discover (2000). OPS and the latest album, not really my bag at all (although both had some redeeming qualities. Nightbird was a return to form, and this next one apparently will be "stripped down and harder" (which is what I've always wanted), perhaps becoming re-invigorated by all of this year's Yazoo projects.

As for PSB, in my opinion, Fundamental is their worst album. Nightlife, another stinker (New York city boy... dear Lord). I can't remember Release right now too much, but even both those albums had some redeeming qualities to them. Bilingual (which I really liked) was the band's locus - a turning point for the inferior era to come. Once I heard "Miracles" and "Flamboyant" though, I realised that the flame was definitely not out. This forthcoming album holds great hope (actually, for both groups).

I really liked the last couple of Erasure albums but then again I am not a perfectionist! I didn't realise the Pet Shop Boys were "perfect" although Ive always known they are "Immaculate"

In response to EMI pressure for more product on the back of the upturn in PSB's commercial fortunes with Very (coinciding with the only time they've released a fifth single from an album) D2 was just a collection of remixes megamixed by an outside DJ. Still, it did reach No.6 - one of the highest charting single-artist mix albums ever.

You aren't from the UK or Germany, both band's biggest markets. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

Union street was an attempt at an acoustic or country and western style of album tracks and b-sides. I wouldn't call it a studio album, never. Just because it was made in a studio! Sorry but they are old songs! Union Street is a compilation of old songs done in an acoustic or country and western style! Unless you are a PSB fan who wants to have a go at the chart placing that is!

How can it be a compilation when it was an album full of newly arranged and newly recorded songs specifically for the album in question?

To put it in perspective, a compilation of songs little-known by the general public would be something like PSB's Alternative, which, despite being a double album of flipsides not even promoted by a single recording that actually featured on said album, managed to go straight into the charts at No.2, only being deprived of topping the charts by Black Grape's massive debut album. Not even Oasis could top the boys with The Masterplan. Alternative remains the highest charted standalone collection of B-sides of all time.

Both groups are great as far as I am concerned and at the end of the day why compare the two? Like Oasis and Blur just a question of choice. Sorry to insult some people if they believe the PSB are pefect or something. It is a question of if you like the music at the end of the day. Both achieved a lot and I hope they continue for a long time to come. Oh and I would say that A little Respect is quite a well known song throughout the world loins. That song plus Chains of love did well in the USA I beleive.

Dont know what you're on about regards fundamental. There are moments on that album that rival psb at their very best, casanova in hell, numb and luna park to name but three. Continuing with the 'shedloads more' thing? Yawn, you must be getting desperate if you need to harp back to that. We'll see though. I'm very positive about the brit awards being a great thing as far as psb are concerned and a non event for erasures attempt to capitalise from it.
