Neil is her 'beard'....billiejo wrote:Anyone who missed it in the UK can listen to the repeat next Friday morning or record it. I am fascinated to learn that she is presently in a 10 year relationship with a guy - she did not say who he was but yet she still regularly goes on holidays and to parties and Shows with Neil - how does she manage this?
she wanted the world to think she was a crazy twisted fag hag....only to hide the horror of the truth, a truth that would end her career in the Media in one fell swoop........... that she was happily wed and living in Surbiton with a fellow lentil eater Guardian reader slipper wearer
Firing verbal shots.......like a Tommy Gun

She didn't say but mentioned how she met them for the first time. They were on a show she was producing and there was a feature where pop stars came on with paper bags on their heads and the audience had to guess who they were. Neil and Chris refused, this being in the Eighties when they had principles. *miaow* Anyway Janet was furious and stormed down to give them the hairdryer treatment before realising they were kindred spirits and having them round for dinner instead.territorygal wrote:Yeah, I'd be curious to know why she picked that particular song, "Always On My Mind"..
It reminded me of a radio interview with Pat Sharp
Of course they will come on stage at the Brits on a train driven by Vince and Andy (or the Krankies - it depends who's available) with paper bags on their heads wanking like monkeys.

I can relate to that one as I regularly go out to the theatre and gigs with other friends and may leave someone at home to do the dishes!

Very interesting. Thanks, Patrick.
BTW, JSP's partner's name is Peter Spanton. Apparently she believes that the secret to a good relationship is "not to see too much of eachother":
Janet Street-Porter always has sex on the first date
Sounds like it's worked for them!

And everything about tonight feels right and so young
And anything I'd want to say out loud will be sung
It's in the music...

Sorry, no disrespect intended. That actually was the title of the article, and I thought it might answer some questions about a subject that she herself touched upon in the interview - at least, I gather she brought it up? Anyhoo...um, yes, good choice, I agree.Naughty Zoot wrote: As to her personal/private life: Mind your own business.

Heard the repeat this morning. JSP is quite a character!
Of 'Alway on My Mind', she says later - 'While Neil was singing that I was thinking of all all the men I could have said that to and there have (sic) been quite a cast list; you know as I was getting bored with one I would have the next one lined up!'
To be serious though, I admire her as a strong tough and intelligent woman and the broadcast was very revealing as well as entertaining.
BTW I reckon another appropriate song could have been 'Minimal' as she mentioned in the prog that she lives in quite a minimalist house and can't stand the 'detritus' that men bring to her home.
