Re: Love Etc
My review. Have heard the whole album but am considering for a few days before posting full review.
Love etc is probably one of the most immediate and catchy songs they've ever done. I absolutely cannot get it out of my head, and for that reason alone it's probably a great first single. It's very electronic and sounds utterly modern and contemporary but at the same time, it's classic PSB. It's absolutely beautifully produced - crisp and clean with some great modern keyboard and percussion sounds.
It's desperately cool, with a laid back almost swing vibe - it's in triple time (probably 6/8 or 12/8) like 'Can You Forgive Her', but faster. It has loads of hooks. The "you need more, you need more, you need more, you need loooooooove" being particularly catchy. You've read the lyrics, which work well in the overall context of the song. The call and response section of the chorus is - as some others have mentioned - reminsiscent of Tubthumping by Chumbawumba (in that it's a sort of male group chant/shout). Are Neil and Chris wanting another football terrace chant?
It reminded me straight away of 'Body Language' by MANDY - a big Ibiza club hit from a couple of years ago.
Will it be played on Radio One? I doubt it very much, but I don't really think anything Neil and Chris do now will be played on Radio 1. It'll be big on radio 2. And with much stronger, more typically PSB songs on the album to follow once Love etc has grabbed people's attention, it's a great start to the YES campaign. The next few months are going to be exciting.

We’re different from the others.

Nevermind Radio 1, will it be played by commercial radio stations across the UK?BimboDuncan wrote:My review.

Re: Love Etc
Thank you for good word. I'm going to listen to this song you write about (from Ibiza). Waiting for review!
I've been around the world for a number of reasons. I've seen it all the change of seasons, and I, my lord, may I say nothing?

"I'm with stupid" debuted on other European radio-stations one week before "the official" premiere on Radio 2. I don't know if it's going to happen again.Palpatine wrote:How come?nickname wrote:I think we'll listen "Love etc" (the whole song or at least a snippet) tomorrow or on Tuesday.

Perhaps that was a transgression.....
...what with the Satanas connection, I'd be surprised if the Iberian Peninsula were to host the world premiere...

Re: Love Etc
By the way, does anybody know if they're planning a video for "Love etc."? I haven't heard anything about it, it's strange given that they even shot a video for "Integral".

Makes you wonder whether it's going to be some CGI spectacular (which would explain the lack of news on any location shoot etc..)

Maybe a minimalistic animation with the squares from the artwork moving and changing colors.Ghost within this house wrote:Makes you wonder whether it's going to be some CGI spectacular (which would explain the lack of news on any location shoot etc..)

Re: Love Etc
Thanks for your review, Duncan. Think we're all looking forward to hear the song by next week. I'm hoping that someone will tape-record love etc. during it's world premiere as I'll be on holiday the next week. Can't wait to hear it.BimboDuncan wrote:My review.
