It could be worse, they could be charting outside the top 20, as the last 3 Erasure singles have.

If you think things are going badly in the UK, I just had a look at the iTunes Ireland store and Love Etc. is No. 72 in the Top 100 songs chart!  It's not looking good!

The charts mean nothing these days anyway...

Of course, were they heading for number one I'd be saying 'Of course the charts are EVERYTHING!'

Erasure have a very similar problem. Their last single, Always 2009, didn't even get in the top 200.

What we have to remember here is that apart from the poor availability at the moment, PSB will still be selling a similar amount. It's just that single sales have trebled in 3 years. They just aren't going to compete in the singles market anymore. So being at number 20, is very predictable but because most PSB singles do better, it's hard to accept sometimes that times have changed and want it 'The Way It Used To Be'.

Yes, my opinion is the same. Charts are empty, there is no superb and amazing music. Real tunes are rather ''underground thing'' nowadays.
I've been around the world for a number of reasons. I've seen it all the change of seasons, and I, my lord, may I say nothing?

I think so too.

Here's to a better album chart placing.

Of course, poor distribution of physical formats and lack of places from which to buy them these days is having an effect on Love etc's chart placing.
However, the single just isn't being played enough on a broad spectrum of radio stations. Love etc hasn't broken 400 plays in a week yet, and was played 6 times less last week than the previous one. Songs like Poker Face, Right Round etc are being spun between 1000-2000 times per week.
If Love etc had more plays across more stations, more non-fans would hear it and DOWNLOAD it, which is what has to happen these days to be a hit.
Getting the single heard is the biggest obstacle these days.
Saying all that, if fans can obtain the CD some time this week, its Mid-week position may not disintegrate too badly. One hopes.

It is outrageous that both Amazon and HMV were out of stock from day one. HMV will apparently have the CDs "back in stock in seven days".

The thing is though, Love etc has been number one in their pre order charts for weeks. So surely they realised the demand. Unless of course, EMi just didn't bother producing very many. A piss poor effort all round.

I'm still shocked that hardly any shops are stocking singles. Then again, with the amount of people that seem to go in HMV, i can se half their shops closing soon. We will probably end uo with Amazon moving onto the high street before long.

Has anyone tried getting in touch with the powers that be and asked what's happened? Maybe they have Frank Spencer on the payroll.

Since we don't want the Boys chart performance to suffer because of the stores being out of stock, I think the best thing to do, even if you are going to get the physical copy (eventually), is to purchase the download from Amazon as an MP3 file. Since you don't want to purchase it multiple times for no reason, you could then send this file to a friend as a gift and delete it from your computer (i believe this is ok, since there would still be only one copy).

Just forego your morning coffee this week, and buy the download each day instead!
