The First Time With Neil Tennant
Sunday 31 October
12.00noon-1.00pm BBC 6 MUSIC
Since their very first single, West End Girls, was released in 1984, the Pet Shop Boys have occupied a unique place in the UK pop firmament.
Responsible for some of the most idiosyncratic and successful electronic music ever, their career spans some 10 albums and an incredible 55 singles.
On The First Time this week, Matt Everitt meets Neil Tennant and looks into the band's history, their ability to meld underground dance culture with massive mainstream success, their greatest (and most ridiculous) artistic gestures and, most intriguingly, Tennant and his bandmate Chris Lowe's 30-year relationship – charting the personal story and inspirations behind a group who are "half Oscar Wilde and half Kraftwerk".
Presenter/Matt Everitt, Producer/Henry Lopez-Real

"Pet Shop Boys At The BBC" is back on ABC iView (8 days left)... for any Aussie fans who haven't yet seen it. Great doco.
And everything about tonight feels right and so young
And anything I'd want to say out loud will be sung
It's in the music...

Just listening to that 6 Music interview; I hadn't realised that the lyrics to Getting away with it were written from Morrissey's perspective.

Is it just an average ad, or does it have actors in it looking like fools?Lucy wrote:^ITV (I think), seen it twice since I posted too.

I saw it on Dave during I'm Alan Partridge. It was quite impressive actually; very nice graphics of their heads in those stupid hats. Quite like the beginning of the Minimal video actually.
Anybody on the tube today please report if there are posters anywhere so I can go and rip one down.
