How can they expect to be taken seriously?

#1 Post by alig »

The old PSB would never ever comment on any political events. Nowadays they take to FB to comment on all sorts of issues, esp. on gay rights. I just wonder what you people think of that? I assume that the boys themselves never ever listen to "How can you expect..." these days.

It's was easier to keep your mouth shut in 1989. Spouting off is very easy (and tempting) in 2014.
I sincerely *love* Disco 2 and listen to it straight through regularly.

If they're gonna be always in the news commenting via Facebook or whatever, I think they should change their current promotional picture, Neil looks very old and creepy. The general public wouldn't be too impressed with that

I think it's good. They should denounce the creepy nationalism that seem to be coming back in the UK, i thought you guys trampled that crap in the 60s.

Have you heard about that PSB song called "Shopping"?

Writing a song and marching are very different things.

Shame on them!!!
1991's ambitious Performance tour, at which Lowe freely admits he didn't play anything live.

I wish they were more like Miley Cyrus and sang and talked about themselves endlessly.

I also wish Neil would appear on stage mostly naked, twerking with inanimate objects.

This would increase record sales enormously. None of this creepy protest crap.

Those ''artists'' are talentless musically so have to whore themselves in other ways to the public eye to remain active. Think Miley Cyrus, Will I Am, Justin Beiber, Cheryl Cole, Lily Allen, Kylie embarrasing herself as a judge (never seen anyone act so fake)

Luckily our boys don't need to fall drunk out of nighclubs in The Sun to remain credible

Don't tell me that you believe the keytar during "Where the Streets..." is real...

Marching? Anyway, they have talked about political issues in interviews since almost the very beginning, so it isn't anything new.

Huh. I'm looking at the official PSB FB page, but I don't see anything about "gay rights", or politics at all.
Just fluff crap like "That's it, Monday is done and dusted! Celebrate with a LIKE, Petheads!"
Did you mean the Pet Texts on the OS?

Anyway, as others have said, they've always had something to say about the issues of the day. Nothing really new there, except perhaps it's more overt these days. I don't know... it's their art, their site, their opinions. I don't have to agree 100%, but I respect it. As for "How can you expect...", well, they sold out of that one a long time ago, didn't they?

(btw, I don't know who runs the various social media presences, but it ain't Neil and Chris...)
And everything about tonight feels right and so young
And anything I'd want to say out loud will be sung
It's in the music...

I'm disappointed that the bassline on How Can You expect to be taken seriously live wasn't played by Chris, I always thought that was quite impressive to keep in time playing a not-so-simple bass hook, until of course after the middle eight breakdown when the bass continues with Chris not playing it at all.
