Do you have the feeling of a "non surprising" album to come?
Re: Do you have the feeling of a "non surprising" album to come?
I wish they went back to the Electric formula, because they seem to give their best with longer tracks these days, whereas their standard pop writing is a little weary. But it'll probably be a megapop thing, not too different from Super. A proper surprise would be a mellow album, but I'm not really convinced Stuart Price is the right producer for that. I might be wrong though... So maybe the right idea would be an album with 6 minutes ballads...
...and the most obvious thing we can expect is another Purcell-based song.

Dark and electronic.... with all their pop songs saved for the album after the completion of the Trilogy.
I actually think we might be in for back-to-back albums in 2019 and 2020/early 2021, mirroring what happened with Elysium and Electric. I'm not sure they've got another 'banging with lasers' world tour in them (at least not anytime soon), so I'd be surprised if there was a tour on the back of the 3rd Price album. It seems a good strategy to release the 3rd Price album (and whatever 'interpretative dance' thing they've got going on on the side) to span the 2nd half of 2019 and most of 2020, then a short break, then a classic 'white cover' 'late period' pop album in 2021, followed by a tour (which might, I suspect, turn out to be their last).

I believe it will be a mixed bag, with more downtempo tracks than on Super. I hope they won't do an album with long tracks like on electric.

Loved Electric and Super so carry on lads!
Just for the sake of it, make sure you're always frowning.
It shows the world that you've got substance and depth.

I think it's entirely possibly we could get an Electric/Super type album as the primary disc with an extra disc of the dark techno type of material previously mentioned. Being the last of the Price trioligy it's entirely possible they'll wish to do something special to mark the occasion.
Re: Do you have the feeling of a "non surprising" album to come?
Neil said they had been writing poppy songs. So, I think we can expect that from them.
Re: Do you have the feeling of a "non surprising" album to come?
Chris said that on an Q&A, too. Neil than replies that they had this "superelectric manifesto" for Fundamental, but when they worked on it, it turns out to be one of there most orchestrated albums.

I expect nothing.
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'
"He couldn't have fell off that hard" Ain't no way
"What happened to the way you was rappin' when you was scandalous
That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]
[BOOSH! BOOSH!] (What was that?) Pet Shop Boys

I'm imagining an electronic poppy & bouncy album…perhaps they finally get to use their album title Bounce.
Actually, i prefer Closed Pet Shop Boys.(defining the end of production with Pricey…nothing else).

I'm too weak to be strong
Re: Do you have the feeling of a "non surprising" album to come?
The thing's that in order to bring out an uberpop album they need a strong visual concept too. That would mean bringing back costumes and all the rest of it, and hopefully trying to push Farrow a little harder. But that will probably be easier once the SP era is done, and I'm not sure I want to wait for 2022 to get something really fresh.

Third Price:
- Short number of tracks like Elec. Longer tracks like Elec.
- Probably not too different tonally to Elec and Super
- High energy
Not long after.... another Fundamental type eclectic album.... Neil rambling / orchestrations / mixed production
It's inevitable they will make the post-Price album more thematic and richer production (than pure dance).
Also inevitable they will do something as a commentary of current world events..... just not sure what album that would be! Or if its an entire album (like Fundy pretty much was)
Re: Do you have the feeling of a "non surprising" album to come?
Price will produce it, so.. it will be the same, I am afraid. Is it good? I don't know, but I believe in PSB more than in Stuart Price.
