You just made me laugh out loud right here at work!

Anyway...
I've had to make a conscious effort not to listen to the track anymore. I don't want to get tired of it. I love it! It's certainly my favourite PSB track of the moment and could possibly become one of my favourites of all time.
(that's how I feel at the moment, anyway)
I think I might be in agreement with you here, although I need to give it some more time. I think it gets better with every listen. I took a day off listening and when I played it on my iPod walking to work this morning it sounded so blissful. I remember the initial glow of I'm with stupid disappearing quite quickly, within a day or two, from which I've never recovered. It's one of my least favourite tracks on Fundamental. Love etc seems in a whole different class to that song.
But it feels like the flight
Of the von Trapps, does that mean it's war?
Well....
After living with the new single for a few days, ive come to the conclusion that i really do like the song. Though i think the production is a bit 'cheap' sounding which kind of lets it down. I feel the sounds and beats are very generic in a 'that'll do' preset kind of way.
Feels like a demo to me.
But its a much better song than i expected, so am pleased about that.
It's probably the xenomania input that has made it sound cheap, i find all their productions a bit generic and lame to be honest and also felt that 'the loving kind' could have been so much better, i found the production really flat and average.
Oh well, at least another gorgeous melody and Neil's voice sounds very young anf fresh...so hurrah to that.
"Love, etc" was written by Tennant / Lowe / Xenomania. That's why this song is better because Xenomania gave it another feeling to this song which has made it better and more commercial. But the productions of Xenomania are not usually as good as the productions of Trevor Horn.
So, the production and the sound of I'm with stupid is by far better but the song is not. Anyway, the choir improves the song.

The song is fantastic. The track is fantastic. Doesn't have to be an epic/lush/multilayered production to be ace, as it just is. Extremely catchy indeed, I can't get it out of my head. Neil & Chris made me happy once again.

I agree. Without those great vocals arrangements the track would sound pretty cheap. It would be even better with a more sophisticated sound production. I like it anyway.
Boy, it's tough
getting on in the world
when the sun doesn't shine
and a boy needs a girl
It's about getting out of a rut
you need luck
but you're stuck
and you don't know how
Don't have to be
a big bucks Hollywood star
Don't have to drive
a super car to get far
Don't have to live
a life of power and wealth
Don't have to be
beautiful but it helps
Don't have to buy
a house in Beverly Hills
Don't have to have
your daddy paying the bills
Don't have to live
a life of power and wealth
Don't have to be
beautiful but it helps
You need more than a big blank cheque to be a lover or
a Gulfstream jet to fly you door to door
somewhere chic on another shore
You need more, you need more, you need more
You need more, you need more, you need more, you need love
Too much of anything
is never enough
Too much of everything
is never enough
Boy, it's tough
getting on in the world
when the sun doesn't shine
and a boy needs a girl
It's about getting out of a rut
you need luck
Boy, you're stuck
and you don't know how
Don't have to be
a big bucks Hollywood star
Don't have to drive
a super car to get far
Don't have to wear
a smile much colder than ice
Don't have to be
beautiful but it's nice
You need more than
the Gerhard Richter hanging on your wall
a chauffeur-driven limousine on call
to drive your wife and lover to a white tie ball
You need more, you need more, you need more
You need more, you need love
I believe
that we can achieve
the love that we need
I believe
call me naive
that love is for free
Don't have to be
a big bucks Hollywood star
Don't have to drive
a super car to get far
Don't have to live
a life of power and wealth
Don't have to be
beautiful but it helps
beautiful but it helps
beautiful but it helps
