The boys are going to perform "Winner" at the German "Radiopreis" (radio awards ceremony) in Hamburg on Thursday (06 Sep)!

Maybe this was true in the 80's/90's, but I'm sure in the past few years they have appeared on Steve's show at least once or twice & all seemed to get on ok and was a good interview etc.

So they start proper TV/radio promotion after the record had its probable chart peak? Strange choice...

I find this to be quite an interesting strategy, actually. They knew they would be Top 10 anyway despite nil promotion, so why not start promoting it when it is high in the charts for one week anyway. That means it will be available in the shops (chart sections etc.) and so they might have a better chart run this way. Because otherwise (with promotion before the album release) they might have reached #7 or 8# instead of #9 but there wouldn't have been another advantage anyway. Let's see what happens...

I see your point, but I think that would have made more sense with "Leaving" out now, rather than in mid-October. I mean, they don't have a proper "fresh" single out right now to promote the record-unless they're going to play the Dawson remix of "Winner" on selected TV shows?

Yes, Leaving should come out earlier no question about that. Otherwise, quite an interesting strategy...

Add to this that the "Happysad" 7" isn't actually available yet (to be found only on the EB compilation if I'm right?), so if people like it they'll have to buy either the original version, or the remix bundle with the extended mix...
