Re: It Couldn’t Happen Here June 2020 Release Confirmed

It has been common for European films to be shot at 25 frames per second, even though they will then have to be slowed down to 24 frames per second when they are shown in cinemas – at least in the age of actual film projection. It makes some kind of sense to shoot at 25 fps when the film is mainly i...

Re: Well, the Alan Turing project just got more interesting.

What exactly do you think "chemical castration" means, if not hormone injections? When did it ever mean anything else? Are you saying injecting testosterone would have reversed all the negative effects of the oestrogen? Do you have a source for that claim? Even if true, was testosterone ea...

Re: #lastfm hashtag on twitter

Those are automated tweets that show what that person has been listening to the most during the past week, on devices or programs that report what they play to the last.fm site. It only means that person has been listening to something.

Re: Alan Turing to Be Posthumously Pardoned

What does a pardon (in the UK) imply about the original sentence? Does it mean "we were wrong to punish you" or is it more like "we were right to punish you, but we've decided to forgive you"?

Re: Glitches on Bolshy?

The percussion sound at those points is a bit strange, like two handclaps edited together or something (and then drenched in reverb), but to me it sounds the same both times, and also when it reappears three times around 2:09-2:20, so I don't think it's a glitch. My MP3s are from the official site f...

Re: Love Is A Bourgeois Construct - new single?

For those who don't know, "The Draughtsman's Contract" is the 1982 film by Peter Greenaway, for which Michael Nyman wrote the soundtrack. 'Chasing Sheep Is Best Left To Shepherds' is a very catchy track.

Love Is A Bourgeois Construct - new single?

From the MN Records Facebook page, a photo of Michael Nyman with Neil and Chris, and the following caption: "had a more than pleasant meeting with the Pet Shop Boys in Angel Studios today - exchanging ideas about our respective scores for 'Battleship Potemkin' and listening to their new single,...

Re: Potemkin DVD?

Unfortunately their score does not sync up with the most recent restoration of Battleship Potemkin (which incidentally is being released on blu-ray by the British Film Institute next month) without some cuts, tweaks and/or tempo changes. So unless they re-work their score to make it fit, it could on...

Re: Pet Shop Boys Live From Berlin

The backing singers on the screens reminded me of some works by video artist Candice Breitz, especially "Working Class Hero (A Portrait of John Lennon)" where 25 Lennon aficionados, each on a separate screen in "portrait format", are shown in static shots singing along with the P...

Re: Battleship P

I was surprised that some of the themes were reused by the boys. I'm going to listen to the entire DVD soundtrack today and see how similar the two soundtracks are. Do all the DVDs have the same soundtrack, or are there different versions out there? There are many different soundtracks, but a prett...
