Yes, now you mention it I can hear “Dog eat dog world”. Funny how that had never stood out to me before.

Re: Robert Smith from The Cure isn't a Neil Tennant fan

Of course, there is no jealousy like a 30 year grudge. From a man who’s read Some Kafkha, misinterpreted ALL of it and has taken it far too seriously, As well as being the exact double of Elizabeth Emmanuel (but without the taste) then that’s something. :eh: To be fair, you have just exhumed a 14-y...

Re: Synthesized voice on Hoping for a Miracle

Hi there

Is the answer:

It’s been this way
since life began
The child lives on
inside the man
You have to eat
You need to sleep
You sometimes feel
you’re in too deep

Re: Now 7 on CD

This was the first Pet Shop Boys music I owned. Quite often these new CD versions use different mixes so we may be disappointed.

Re: Pet Shop Boys & Robbie Williams

I wouldn’t class myself as a fan as such but there’s a high percentage of good stuff in his catalogue and he is easily dismissed if you find him abrasive and annoying. I would say he is misunderstood. The Chris Heath books Feel and Reveal are brilliant pieces of pop writing and character studies, up...

Re: If PSB top 5, who are other 4?

PSB Boards of Canada Aphex Twin Autechre Moby I have never heard Autechre, listened to for the first time and I am very impressed. I am a little bit embrassed of not knowing them because they have been around since 1987? I’m a fan as well. Their earlier releases are quite different to how th...

Re: Further Listening in the future?

It was a massive missed opportunity to not pad about the first 6 further listening CDs. It makes no sense that the first batch only have one bonus disc and then Nightlife, Release and Yes have two bonus discs. Neil made the point that they became more prolific at this point and that there was simpl...

Re: PSB at the BBC

Interesting to see the Christmas 1988 TOTP performances, with Introspective era Neil and Chris performing Always on my Mind and Heart. Crazy to think that was the same year as Domino dancing and Left to my own devices.

Re: If PSB top 5, who are other 4?

I love Electronic as well but I never considered them a proper band but rather a side project (and that was what they really were). Besides three albums do not make a "top 5 act" for me. The common characteristic of lots of acts listed here is their longevity, meaning that they stood the ...

I’ve been lucky enough to hear them play this twice... Now I’d love to hear them do the full version of Always On My Mind / In My House.

Re: Happy people

COVID-19 UPDATE! "Happy people" is more relevant as ever. At least the chorus is, and that's the only part people listen to. So why not release it as a single - accompanied by a video? Hotspot has a few tracks that seem oddly fitting given how 2020 has played out: Happy people, living in ...

Re: Being Boring At 30

Great reading some personal stories about the song.. It’s a beautiful track.. I’ve always loved it. I’ve always liked the TOTP performance too.. Neil looks cool in the hat & specs. It’s the perfect opening for Behaviour, it introduces the mood of the album well. And.. I’ve always liked the Nigh...
