Re: Your Instant Classics

It’s a sin - this was the song that made me a fan. I was 11 years old, and had begun taping my favourite tracks from the radio to make my own Hits style compilations. It’s a sin grabbed my attention immediately, with its huge sound and all its many component parts… it sounded head and shoulders abo...

Re: PSB & OMD

Apparently when they first met in 1981, Neil and Chris bonded over two particular songs - Soft Cell’s Bedsitter, and OMD’s Souvenir.

Re: New album Nonetheless

I assume that Anne Dudley is also on the album ..? --- As well as Anne Dudley and the BBC Concert Orchestra, we were joined in the Radio 2 Piano Room last week by three wonderful singers: Nile Bailey, Bim Amoako-Gyampah and Senab Adekunle. They also sing on our new album. --- She is not. Well, Anne...

It’s a good call, but they’re not actually real strings. Left to my own devices was the first track on which they used an orchestra.

Re: Strings

Requiem in denim and Leopardskin Loneliness That’s a big gap between those two, isn’t it! Makes me think that there must be a fair few songs in that period that could be arranged for orchestra for a future performance. Wiedersehen jumps to mind first. Oh, and The Forgotten Child. Yes, and it’s inte...

Re: Strings

Would be interesting to see what songs had original orchestration especially recorded. Decadence was a sample, wasn't it? - as an example All over the world was a sample too, I think? Although at the end of the track there's trumpets that's doesn't sound like Nutcracker? Interesting that the Wikipe...
