Re: Cicero - Love Is Everywhere Demo

Why wasn’t Cicero huge? Four banging singles, a track on a successful film, the weight of PSB behind him. In hindsight I think there was little marketing and not enough money behind it all. Had he been signed by a major with a decent advance, I think he’d have been very successful. As it was it fel...

Re: Actually vs Introspective, choose the best one

I disagree that Introspective represents the imperial era. None of the 4 no. 1 singles are from it ( Always on my mind was either standalone or attached to Actually anyhow). It simply caught the momentum — came out when PSB were big. In 1989, PSB was quite Imperial too. Domino Dancing was Number 1 ...

Taking that literally: PopArt (Flamboyant, Miracles, Somewhere, Where The Streets Have No Name) arranged by Pete Tomasso Music processed by Jon Bunker The other songs are presumably taken from previous transcriptions. Fundamental Music arranged by Derek Jones Music Processed by Paul Ewers Music Des...

Re: What would you think a future PSB's album should sound like in order to reinvent themselves?

Please no more Trevor Horn. A young producer would be good. I would like them to try a move away from software synths on the laptop and dare I say it, using Pete Gleadall as their programmer (much as I think he's brilliant). It's a golden time for electronic musicians right now, there's so much grea...

Re: I just nearly fainted!

I have all of their sheet music books, so I must be close to a millionaire. What’s the most recent one you have, out of interest? Fundamental. I feel very lucky to own Please, Actually, Introspective, Behaviour, Very, Bilingual, Release, Fundamental and of course PopArt. I don't know if there was o...

Re: Guardian 100 Greatest UK No.1's

Completely shocked to read that it was Stephen Hague who played the infamous bass line on West End girls not Chris! Need a lie down after that as all my dreams have been shattered. I first learned this years ago, it's come up occasionally over the years. Don't worry, Chris still wrote the bassline!...

Re: Forthcoming PSB TV and radio appearances...

Paninaro is currently playing on Tom Robinson’s Now Playing BBC 6Music show. This week the show is all about Sparks and a listener suggested that all 80’s synth pop duos were influenced by Sparks and that Chris’s stage persona owes a debt of gratitude to Ron Mael. Interesting how Sparks commented a...

Depeche have only ever got as high as 4.
They’ll have to console themselves with having made shitloads more money than Neil and Chris thanks to their success in the U.S.

Re: Guardian 100 Greatest UK No.1's

Get in! Never doubted it’d be number one - honest lol. But, fantastic. That haunting, euphoric, atmospheric opening never fails to make the hair on the back of my neck stand up, and takes me back very clearly to when I first heard it. Powerful, intelligent and enigmatic. Deserves to be number one! ...
