Re: It Couldn’t Happen Here June 2020 Release Confirmed

I used Zavvi for the first time last week. Goods turned up quickly and well packaged. Admittedly I’ve had no reason to contact them. Are they an independent though? They are part of the stock market floated The Hut Group

Do we know for sure that the Techno Funk mix is from 1991 and not earlier?

Kevin Saunderson mixes are from 1987 though, right? And Frankie Knuckles mixes, early 1988?
I would have thought the Kevin Saunderson remix/es were from 1988 as they were specifically commissioned to promote Introspective

Re: Forthcoming PSB TV and radio appearances...

In Literally (the book as opposed to the mag) I think Chris mentioned that he used to like how Ron Mael just used to sit there looking intense but static. IIRC in around the mid nineties there was an interview in Q with Sparks where they sort of implied that PSB owed them a debt as they were so obvi...

Re: Guardian 100 Greatest UK No.1's

Thought I'd double check about The Cure on www.officialcharts.com and also looked up New Order just to see how long World in Motion was number 1 for, apparently the artist name was actually englandneworder

Great for the Boys but no Depeche, Cure or New Order but this is included:
Slightly difficult for DM and The Cure, as they've never had a UK number one.

Re: Guardian 100 Greatest UK No.1's

Quite frankly I expected better from this list. The high placing of The Beatles and The Beach Boys shows how little we have progressed, both in our views culturally and as regards an inclusive society. Patriarchal white privilege hegemony is what this list screams out to me. I expected better form T...

Re: Just listened to Relentless - it's not very good

Actually, the whole of One Thing Leads To Another is brilliant, and the demo knocking round on Youtube with the original lyrics in 'order'. Being inspired by your post just given the above a watch, it struck me that the bit about narrator finding out 'her' turning out to be 'him' could have been in...

Re: Just listened to Relentless - it's not very good

I think Relentless holds up brilliantly as a time capsule. It's always been a bleak and atmospheric slice of early '90s electronic music. I think you might be missing the point of the album somewhat - it was never intended as a pop album. One of their best records, and it's a shame it's not conside...

Re: 4th single off Hotspot - I Don't Wanna

More nostalgia than anything. Not the strongest of tracks granted. I think the track is almost a microcosm of what they were about in the early days. The first verse is quite matter of fact and realistic but with the hope of excitement, love and or/sex (Soft Cell ish in a way). The next verse iirc ...

Re: Bring him back - I know who I want to produce the next album

Kornel kovacs who remixed Twenty Something, his album is brilliant or real lies could be interesting Agree re: the Kovac album, I was disappointed with the Twenty Something remix as I felt he was capable of a lot better. Although as a track, rather than remix, it’s pretty good. I love that track by...

Re: Videography

They dropped the ball at the very last Parly single though... That was strange. The imagery from the single sleeves hinted at some kind of sci-fi aesthetic but Parlophone clearly weren't going to chuck any money at a group that were leaving the label. Rather a low-key departure all things considere...
