Re: Spinning vinyl

This would've worked better on Vimeo (had they an official channel) where 320kbps audio playback is supported. It's ridiculous Youtube reduces to 126kbps, or whatever it is, and won't even give you the choice to adjust as they do for video quality. I do love this as a concept. It kind of works best ...

Re: New single - I don't wanna

Clearly I'm in the minority then. I think this edit is s total waste of space. Very disappointed. I must be in that minority too. Such a b-side this track. The two things that bother me are the barely-there chorus and that dated electro-revivalist sound from early 2000s (think Ladytron).

Re: New Boy demo tape - Pet Text

I love it when the Boys unearth an oldie. How many other acts on the planet can dredge up something they wrote from 36 years ago and even consider it for current release ? There's a lyric in the original that got revived somewhat for Birthday Boy. No one knows his name / But everyone feels the same

Re: New single - I don't wanna

Surprised at this as the choice of single. Very b-side calibre. Have a feeling New Boy will outshine it.

Re: Wedding in Berlin: revival of interest?

I love the production of it and support the change in traditional song structure. My main problem with it is the cringey lyrics with no context whatsoever to ironise it, no darkness to offset it, no punchline. No true Pet Shop Boys fan should trust any world built on pure love and happiness and wedd...

Re: At Rock Bottom (snippet)

Could be referencing Kurt Cobain ("It shot him").
A book came out on the 25th anniversary of his death in March last year which I'd imagine would have been roughly around the time Neil was writing.

Re: The most New Order-esque PSB tracks?

Occupy your mind for Dusty had some shades of New Order. The drum pattern and the acid-trip spookiness of the synth loops.

Re: At Rock Bottom (snippet)

They kinda phoned it in with this one.

Although I do like the little background vocals that come into that half-chorus towards the end.

Re: Stuart Price Trilogy Top/Worse 5 (2013-2020)

Electric the best of the 3 for me. The 12-inchiness of it all brought back memories of Introspective.

1. Vocal
2. Inside a dream
3. The dictator decides
4. Burning the heather
5. The pop kids

Re: Australian News Roundup

Omg who found this?! How sad that they were hoping to make it to Australia the following year (1987) but wouldn't get here till 1994. Note how young, innocent and uncynical they were around that time when it was all a big new adventure and radio was their friend. https://i.ibb.co/3Tmy1w4/nei...

Re: Hotspot - Forum Reactions.

PSB is not a one-trick pony, they are enjoyable when intelligent and also when they go a bit crazy from time to time. I do fully support the lunacy and 'bonkers' element, I just wish it could be achieved without cheese and naffness. I guess I was craving some dark/ironic storytelling in the lyrics ...

Re: Hotspot - Forum Reactions.

To all the people that are loving Wedding in Berlin, can I just remind you of these lyrics: We're getting married Because we love each other We're getting married today We're getting married Because the time feels right We're doing it without delay I mean .. is this really how you want your Pet Shop...

Re: Hotspot - Forum Reactions.

Wedding in Berlin .. their sexiest rhythm track (since Sexy Northerner) but coupled with what has to be their unsexiest lyrics ever.

I can't quite decide if it's a marriage made in heaven.

Re: Annually 2020

Really wish they'd start answering fans questions as a monthly update on the website, even if it's a handful only. I know in a way it's very give-no-fuck s PSB but doesn't make sense to interact with fans in a once-a-year printed publication in an age of social/digital media. Can someone set up a pe...
