Re: Literally transcripts

Really? Does Soulseek still exist? I just see references to "Seeker" when I use it as a search term. Yes. I just went on again last night and found scans of Annually for 1989 and 2017-2021 https://www.slsknet.org/news/node/1 Thanks, I used the search for Literally/Pet Shop Boys but nothin...

Re: Literally transcripts

There are only partial transcripts. Great reference, but woefully incomplete.

This brings me to a strange place. "No text channels", it says.
These links don't work, unfortunately.

Literally transcripts

Hi everyone,

I have every issue of Literally except 2 and 3. Does anyone know where I can find scans or transcripts for those issues?

I'm kind of surprised PSB haven't reprinted these as books in '80s/'90s'/'00s/'10s volumes.

Re: Nonetheless - Blu-ray

I think the quality issue trumps the others, even if those are important, too. The 4K UHD for The Abyss for example has something like five times the bitrate available on the streaming version, which has a material impact on picture and sound quality. Physical discs are superior to streaming in ever...

People who want the highest possible quality, and access to media not on streaming services. I agree streaming is "good enough" for most people, the same way most people use Spotify rather than pay for the superior audio a CD provides.

BD/UHD are also higher quality than HD/4K streaming, which has always been my motivation.

Re: New album Nonetheless

This made me wonder: if PSB had never told us 'New Boy' was written at the same time as 'Rent', would we have ever guessed it was, given when it came out, and its slightly modernised production? I wouldn't have thought they had any material left over from that period; I probably would have thought ...

Re: New album Nonetheless

Just to try and get this back on topic, I think Hotspot and the period between it and the new album has been consistent and very creative. This is stuff they would never have produced years ago in the same way and I've loved hearing new things from them. It was a thrill hearing New Boy, it brought ...

Re: New album Nonetheless

I like Will-o-the-Wisp but it's not something new in the sound of Pet Shop Boys. Burning the Heather is a song that could have been in Release. I don't see anything new in the other two. I think I see the problem. You seem to equate "having a guitar" with being something that could have b...

Their last album had Will-o-the-Wisp, Burning the Heather and Wedding in Berlin on it. You predicted that spread?

You predicted Soup?

You predicted Cricket Wife?

They're less predictable than ever before. Bless.

Living in the Past + Relentless - commentary?

Neil and Chris have commented on virtually every song they've ever written, between Literally/Annually releases and the liner notes for the re-issues. But there are a few exceptions:

Relentless tracks
Living in the Past

Have they ever commented on these songs?

It's not complicated at all. A single and an EP are two different things. So are singles and promo tracks.

A comprehensive collection of B-sides is easy to curate. PSB muddied the waters by retroactively considering IDOSAC a single.

It doesn't mean much anyway. We should be glad Pet Shop Boys aren't in the Taylor Swift habit of offering 50 variant covers to goose sales. Just enjoy the music!
