Re: Hotspot - Forum Reactions.

I’m still waiting to hear it

I’m also waiting for Drico’s take

Unsure which I’m more eager for ;-)

Re: Was it Roger Scruton PSB sued?..

Surely another master of the fair light was Blue Weaver

Still think it couldn’t happen here sounds better his way via the fairlight vs the orchestra.

IMHO obviously

Re: Hotspot - Forum Reactions.

The first "official" critic from the german music magazine Rollingstone shows a 3.5\5 stars opinion. "On every disco stomper follows a ballad..." Perhaps like EV his review was based on his initial thoughts after 1 listen I understood EV’s take was at first the album was underwhelming Perhaps the r...

Re: Decide (Burning the Heather b-side)

Love the euphoria at the end.

Enjoyable track

The progressive 4th chord played from 3:10 onwards us so unobvious but complex and energising.

That in itself makes my day

Like it lots

Re: Do you think the 2 first albums of the triology have any real contender of the PSB classics?.

Obviously as others have said depends on how you constitute classic. To most people, only West End Girls is a classic. To the next subset of the population, then Go West was the last classic PSB song. IMHO, nothing on super, electric, Elysium, fundamental, nightlife, bilingual or release is a classi...

Sounds like the same chords at the beginning of Inside a Dream if I'm not mistaken
My initial thoughts exactly. And as we all know that was nothing to do with N&C, just SP on his own. Hope this isn’t the same

Re: Newly-scanned Very-era interview with Pete Gleadall and Bob Kraushaar

Love these sort of articles. Obviously don’t understand most of it but it’s still intrigues me nonetheless. Raises a few questions though ? Over the last few years, and especially since SP took over the producer reigns, there has been a ever increasing cacophony of noise around the perceived loss of...

Re: Weak production

I’m no expert at all but this pm I listened to the instrumental Elysium songs and they sounded incredibly rich. Perhaps now the boys don’t have the backing of Parlophone, they have to economise a bit. Also, by having such dud mastering now, gives multiple opportunities in the future for re-mastering...

Re: Memories of PSB live in 2002

23rd July 2002 I saw the PSB live On the banks of lake Geneva at Nyon for Paleo I’ve seen them in many places but that was certainly one of the most picturesque. It was the release tour era and it would be fair to say the crowd had a mixed reaction to some of the songs. Especially Love is a catastro...

Re: Keeping An Open Mind on An Open Mind

I’ve listened to it a number of times. I’ve read assiduously Drico’s invaluable review and yet... I’m not swayed. Under whelmed. Disappointed. Not sure why though. For the first time perhaps ever, we’ll ok since Winner which I try to erase from my memory, it lacks a certain element that I like. Give...
