Re: Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless
I really dislike the 7" version. It's pretentiously over the top. The 7" is def the worst version and far too long. I imagine people got quite a shock putting that on back in '85 after the polished production of West End girls ! It sounds like nothing else in their catalogue. It's the equ...

Re: Your bet for main single of "Nonetheless"
Another reason to dislike this vinyl trend. Anybody remember the sheer joy at the end of the 80's when the CD replaced the vinyl. All of a sudden 80 minutes of music... and what followed was one of the best GH albums ever... Discography. But there were others as well at the time: Tina's GH, Queen G...

*Dylan didn't release Man In The Long Black Coat until 1989.... but I don't believe he was inspired by the West End girls video and era

Re: Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless
Track 11: A man could get arrested Chronology: Please, Further Listening, Track 1 and Track 7 I've always been fond of the trilogy of mysterious, slightly sinister and hugely underrated b-sides of the early years. They appear linked to me, vignettes in a three-part mini series. A man could get arre...

Track 10: Why Don’t We Live Together Chronology: Please , Track 11 After the thrills, excitement, and emotions of the previous few songs, Please concludes with another fine track, about someone trying to convince their partner to move in with them. Although there are clearly some issues between the...

Re: Pet Shop Boys - 5 UNRELEASED tracks from the Fundamental era (Superchumbo, Warren, demos, etc)
Luna Park and Casanova in Hell are brilliant album tracks. LMFAO at the b-sides comment... Luna Park while its lyrical subject is to the point the song lacks speed and edge to match the lyrics. Fugitive is much better at that and would've kept the album at a better pace. Fundamental gets slowed dow...

Thanks. Luna Park is really a low point for PSB, as far as I'm concerned. And that Diane Wareen demo really reveals that they should never have realead that song on an album, not to say as a single. Fundamental has three true b-sidematerial songs: Luna Park, Numb and Casanova in Hell. I'd rather had...

Re: New single „Dancing star“ (digital April 3rd / CD May 3rd)
Can anyone confirm the song's lenght? I saw on one forum that it's 03:01 which would mean a sad Tik-Tok-Compromise lenght. Oh no, could this lead to Nonetheless being the shortest PSB album ever? Hotspot is only 42 minutes long, Bilingual was almost 12 minutes longer. I dare them to go below 40 min...

Track 9: Later Tonight Chronology: Please, Track 10 The first transparently gay statement in their catalogue, Later tonight's codes are rather more see-through than those of I want a lover. There isn't much room for alternative interpretations here: this is a song about longing for someone you can'...

Re: Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless
For me, I want a lover is the most forgettable track on the album. I find it clunky and unsophisticated. The horns and other synth sounds make it the most dated sounding track on the album. I agree with both sentiments regarding IWAL, it depends on my mood. That's why I want to hear the 1985 Blue W...

Re: It's alright (extended mix), what's the matter?
Grandma, Babusia. My grandmother was better at understanding new music than my parents. It was the last thing we did together before she passed away, we listened to music together. I brought some PSB and Pink Floyd (some Gilmour guitar stuff) and she, while being above 95 and totally lost in dement...

Re: Track-by-Track: From Please to Nonetheless
I Want a Lover - those frantic horns and the desperation in this song that captures everything a teenage boy (or girl) could have wanted. This has never been a 'gay' album or 'queer' as someone recently tired to claim. It's the rush of electronics capturing the lust of (night) life accessible to an...
