Yes, just like Leonard, I can see PSB having a late career explosion of creativity. I think the catalyst for Leonard was his manager ripping him off; let’s hope for different drivers for PSB.

Re: Reflection - Pet Shop Boys' 2024

My take away from the last 12 months has been the breadth of involvement; not many could move between Yenyob/6 Music and Strictly/Radio 2 with such ease. It’s quite the quadrangulation.

Mesmerising stuff. Possibly a parody? Funny, but not that funny? Bad, but not that bad? Good, but not that good? It’s difficult to tell.

Memo from accounts… if the 12” is on the album you're cutting off an income stream!

Re: Guardian Top 50 Albums 2024

It’s documented alsewhere in these pages that I love a list; I’m intrigued to see if Nonetheless features in any other end of year round ups. Sadly, I predict not. It's also #21 on the Albumism list: https://albumism.com/lists/best-albums-of-2024-index And #32 on Mojo: https://www.mojo4music.com/art ...

Re: Guardian Top 50 Albums 2024

Thanks for posting this, that’s a great achievement (although it should of course have been no 1 in my opinion!) I would have been super surprised if this had not featured in the Guardian’s list; Laura Snapes is very PSB positive. It’s documented alsewhere in these pages that I love a list; I’m intr ...

Re: Top Three Sleeve Artwork

Hmmm…. don’t the counters on the original cover look too small to be nimbus sans pro bold extended? Difficult, the original is too small to see the nuances. Indeed. That's why I'm not entirely sure. I'm hoping someone here will have the definitive answer. Thanks anyway..😉👍🏻 Even Farrow has probably ...

I really like Elysium, always have. What I don't like are articles like this one, too much fluff and analysis without actually knowing what they're talking about. Even though we’re living in a climate where ignorance and expertise carry equal weight; as a catalyst for debate, I’m for more analysis a ...

Re: Nonetheless - Expanded Edition

While I still have full hearing capabilities, I will listen to CDs and flac files, putting away mp3 and streaming. I still can hear subtil differences on my (fantastic) headphones. Luckly, I can put flac files into my car and listen with full spectrum speakers. Yes to digital audio, but in flac ...

Track 54 : Jealousy Behaviour Further Listening Disc 1 - Track 10 Difficult to fathom that Jealousy was the product of their first attempt at song writing. The artful narrative threads that tie so many of their songs together seem to have been in place since day one. It’s as if they immediately k ...

However, you can be recognised as good arrangers. A jazz audience has no issue with this. Does interpretation have less currency with a pop audience?
