Re: Any insight...

My guess is they sat down with Stuart in their first meetings to discuss the new album and started to form a view on what kind of album they would make, and which tracks would best articulate this vision. At that point, when it would have become clear that the Agenda tracks were somewhat standalone...

Re: New EP on April: Agenda

Waited until Friday night and listened to the EP in one go. What a fun release! For me, there's a Beatles quality to it; it reminds me of something they might release if they were still around. It's not miles from songs PSB have done in the past. I see why they chose to release this set of songs in ...

Re: New EP on April: Agenda

I think it's interesting they chose to release the tracks this way for those who wish to listen and have something new to look forward to most every day this week. Personally, I plan on waiting until this weekend when I will listen to the EP in one go. Over the past 25 years I have a tradition of gi...

Re: New EP on April: Agenda

I've not listened to the lead track yet; I'll wait until the whole EP is out this weekend. This is why I'm excited PSB are on their own indie label - so they may put out weird, non-commercial releases such as this!

Re: New EP on April: Agenda

Anyone notice the Annually ad where they mention recording at Hansa Studios with Stuart Price?

Re: Do you have the feeling of a "non surprising" album to come?

I think it's entirely possibly we could get an Electric/Super type album as the primary disc with an extra disc of the dark techno type of material previously mentioned. Being the last of the Price trioligy it's entirely possible they'll wish to do something special to mark the occasion.

Re: Pet Shop Boys Performance Tour

I was there in Chicago. Every tour I've seen since was comparatively disappointing. I was at the Detroit show, which was I think a day before or after the Chicago one. I wholeheartedly agree, everything after "Performance" has been relatively disappointing. I remember watching it from the general a...

Re: Complete Singles Collection Vol. 1

Now that I'm older and may afford good stereo gear in my home, car, etc. I may see what audiophiles are saying about modern mastering destroying the dynamics and listenability of music. While the new PSB masters have good high end and midrange, the bass is so overdriven on many of the tracks they're...

Re: Royal Opera House Shows DVD

While they're at it, might as well throw the unreleased single mixes of "Axis" and "Vocal" on that bonus CD along with both sides of the "Flourescent" 12".

Re: Royal Opera House Shows DVD

They should call it "Inner sanctum" or "House." All of the uncompiled videos from the past few albums should be included as extras along with a bonus CD of the "Inner sanctum" 12" released in tandem with the first set of Royal Opera House shows for us CD single completists.

Re: In the studio: 21 songs for the new album so far

IMO, PSB turn-out their best work on albums when they're working with a strong producer who doesn't let them do whatever they want. The problem with Yes is that all the songs aren't cowrites as the cowrites are by far the best tracks on there. With Stuart Price he actually stands-up to them and veto...

Re: Are we content ?

In the "Super" studio diary Neil mentioned three songs they wrote during those sessions which he said they're saving for a "pop" album after they release the third Stuart Price installment. This "pop" album was further mentioned in interviews and it was suggested they would like someone like Jeff Ly...

Re: the most embarassing PSb song is...

At their best PSB are sublime. However, there are big chunks of their career that make me proud to be an Erasure fan. I couldn't limit myself to only three songs. Just for starters: 1. The whole Liza Minelli project 2. All of the "Closer to Heaven" musical 3. If Love Were All 4. The night I fell in ...

Re: Bobby O and Pet Shop Boyz

While it's impossible to dispute their success post Bobby O, they did lose something by the late 80s. "Please" had an undercurrent of American-influenced funkyiness one may hear in all of the little R&B hooks sprinkled throughout, which gave rhem a bit of an edge. By the time of their next album tho...
