Re: The end of 2016

... it's hard to tell how much their vaults burst with unreleased demos, which in the case of 2001 remasters could have made the whole thing more interesting, indeed. But one thing we all know for sure is that they like to keep at least some of their unfinished stuff as a resource for songwriting, ...

Re: What's your favourite single from X2 era?

Tough choice. Vocal is my favourite track of them Bourgeois is my second favourite track and has a few nice remixes. also it's 'classic PSB' without bordering on self-parody. Axis is my favourite (almost) instrumental by PSB Twenty Something has Kornél Kovács (no kidding) and the only great (imo) b-...

Re: The end of 2016

When Paninaro (Ian Levine Remix) made its surprise appearance on that 12" compilation and they wrote the Pet Text, I really really started hoping for a Please re-issue with loads of stuff that has never been released digitally. Pet Shop Boys are about the only band who could make me buy such a thing...

Re: vinyl vs. cd

I'm no fan of vinyl records at all. But… I totally agree with @Native that Electric sounds excellent on vinyl. It seems to have far more dynamics and depth on that format whereas it's more of a wall on cd. The difference was so great, that I actually unsealed my copy of Yes and also just bought Fund...

Re: No Regrets ?

I really regret not seeing them on the Release tour. Also not buying the It's alright DJ International cd-single back in the day. Also I chickened out of buying the Before/Truck Driver Promo 12inches for 5€ each in a record store because they didn't have bags. Oh shame.

Re: Discovering Release

It wasn't until Disco 3 and the PopArt singles that it was apparent that they still had their magic, and the excellent albums that have followed showed that they've managed to come back from this low point re-invigorated, ready to be awesome again. Totally agree. I remember I'd really been looking ...

Re: Anyone else have issue with vocals on Electric?

I must say I really like the roughness of Vocal's vocals. It's true they never quite sounded like that, except maybe for the odd early b-side. But I've always kind of wished I'd hear Neil sing like that once more, so I'm happy.

Thursday though… :gag:

Re: Does anyone listen to PSB in surround sound?

I'd love to have PSB tracks in real surround. The Depeche Mode and Björk 5.1 reissues for example are just amazing. Unfortunately surround music apart from concerts never really took off.

Re: I got drunk, listened to Electric and weeped.

Electric's got so many moments of bliss. More than any other of their albums, except for maybe Introspective and Very. Either I'm getting old and sentimental about that and the fact that the PSB are still around, cherishing every sound they release, secretly fearing they might call it day. Or they'r...

Re: Limited edition Electric vinyl coming from Vinyl Factory

The Yes box was £300 (or £350). Dunno. I did buy that one, even though I thought it was crazy at the time. But £500? Come on… That's beyond insane.

Re: Single most ecstatic moment in PSB catalogue

most of my favorite moments have been mentioned, but still: - Always on my mind/in my house build-up to full version - left to my own devices 7" final chorus repeat and break down - heart 7", the build-up first 30 secs - delusions of grandeur, the whole song :) - jealousy, final chorus to coda. used...

Re: This is really really general and random, but...

there's something very much authentic and real in their artificiality, i agree. not many bands up there with them. however, their best songs aren't better than their 'neighbors' best songs. although the psb are indisputably the Best Band Ever, both new order and depeche mode have written at least on...
