Literally crying like a Dalek boo-hoo-hoo? Or just in the lyrics?

Not sure if I can hold out until Friday.... :shifty:

Re: The Morally Virtuous Not Listening To Snippets Club

Same here. Although the further descriptions of the tracks on the "New Snippets" thread are causing me to wonder if I can hold out the next week and a half. I might listen to the Happiness snippet just because it sounds so bizarre!

Re: They recorded 25 songs during 'Super' sessions

I'd rather purchase, listen to, absorb, enjoy SUPER for a longish while before even thinking about what's next for the Boys. :P

Re: Super - Track-by-Track Review (SPOILERS)

That sounded harsh - and it wasn't meant to - so I'll start again, Gary. You really did not like Electric, if I recall correctly, so I think this one will challenge you in a similar way - but it does have some more straightforward pop songs (fast and slow), so perhaps there will be something more f...

Re: "What is Super?"

Very I find to be a mixed bag. I like Go West, The Theatre and Dreaming of the Queen but the rest I could do without because I don't like the sound of Very, I just find it tiring on the ears and rather obnoxious. I do like some of the b-sides from that era too though, Hey Headmaster and Too Many Pe...

I'm very intrigued to hear how Neil and Chris tackle reggae on "Twenty-Something."

Re: Classic PSB remix moments

As "Streets Have No Name" is one of my least favorite PSB singles, I really love some of the inventive David Morales mixes (Red Zone, Ska, et al).

Re: Which PSB song have you recently discovered or rediscove

Sometimes different aspects of a track come to the fore after a few listens. Previously it had been Chris' vocodered vocals that had been the standout feature of "One of the Crowd" for me. Now it's the relentless echoed drum beat throughout the track that I primarily think of.

Re: Opinions about "Electric" (non PSB fans)

I played Electric for a friend who is not a dance music fan. He liked "Thursday" and "Fluorescent" the best. He thought "Construct" was too "weird," but he thought the rest ranged from okay to too clubby.

Re: The fantasy American cover thread

Rufus Wainwright - Boy Strange (no, I don't think Rufus is a strange boy - I just believe he could really bring out that song's beauty.) Tom Waits - I Want a Dog (Waits covering any PSB song in his style would be a hoot and a half to hear) Steely Dan - One Thing Leads to Another Edit: I didn't catch...

Re: Fantasy B Side Album - B Sides 12 Track Ultimate Album

I like the8thark's tracklist. It made me think that one could cull PSB songs to create themed 12 track albums made up of B-side and bonus tracks. One that immediately leaps to my mind would be a set of moody songs to rove the night with. (Getting less moody and more celebratory and "dance-y" with th...

Re: Where would you rank "Electric" in the PSB discography?

Too early for me to say, but ELECTRIC has a chance to be #1 for me. I've never officially ranked all the PSB album in order, but I do know that my criteria would be "What is the overall impact of the album as a straight-through listen?" Not necessarily which album has the most classic songs or the b...

Re: The "Elysium B-Side" Survivor Challenge - Round 2

I Started a Joke - Not a favorite Bee Gees song of mine to begin with - this PSB version is nothing exciting or revelatory. Hell - Great lyrics, but somewhat annoying music and rhythm. Inside, which is one of the least substantial PSB tracks ever, is gone, so if my above two picks go next I will hav...
