Re: The New Album Info Thread

You people need to remember it was recorded using a lot of old analogue equipment.

That will give it a certain distinct sound. It won't be clean, digital, hyper-pop like Super.

It's a deliberate sonic choice. Not cheap. A lot of that equipment is rare and very expensive now.

Re: Snippets

This is the first time since Nightlife that I will not be downloading leaks or listening to snippets beforehand. A good friend and I are going to sit down with a bottle of decent red or two on Friday evening and enjoy a clean 'first listen' of the vinyl on his Naim/PMC sound system. I don't know how...

the first time I've heard the term use in a mildly disparaging sense

Re: Rate Monkey Business (edit version)

The rating of the single on Rate Your Music is the lowest you can thing of (2,62/5). Their worst rating ever. But other new songs were criticised as well (just 3,05 or 3,10). I think they have ultimetely lost their touch and hearts of more alternative oriented listeners. This strained post-rational...

Re: Rate Monkey Business (edit version)

A sizeable minority (30%) giving it 4/10 or below.

For a group of rabid PSB fans, that isn't fantastic.

Previous singles have been rated considerably higher by this forum.

Single of the week on Radio 2 next week.
Wow, didn't expect that.

Perhaps I have misjudged, as it's the first single since Numb that I actively dislike.

I like the upward modulation of the synth line rather than, as one might expect, the voice, for the final chorus - but that's about it.

Re: 3rd single "Monkey Business" (Jan 2020)

Second listen.

I still loathe it.

It's rather like an economy-class Get Lucky, with none of the charm or catchy hooks

The first single since Numb I've actively disliked

Re: Keeping An Open Mind on An Open Mind

It's a reasonably good PSB b-side, which is praise indeed given the quality of their 'bonus tracks'.

But it is no Can you forgive her? Let us not get carried away. Also the tropical house undertones grate somewhat.

Re: New Album Cover..?

it's very cool and conveys an ethereal feeling and for the people who are 'why is it blurred' - my god, get a grip this is art - the connection between how something looks and how it makes you feel... in this case, you have two people in the autumn of their years, fading out of existence... it's ver...

Re: DREAMWORLD TOUR

On Wednesday the show at Manchester had almost no tickets left and was listed as limited availability, today there are 100’s of tickets in full rows for sale. Is this a usual sales tactic? AEG, the tour promoters, shift them over to Ticketmaster in batches - they prefer to sell them on their own AX...

My facts could be skewed because I was 10 at the time and not particularly closely following their career then but didn’t Was it worth it?? at least partly suffer from being in the highly competitive Christmas chart (or a week or two prior) and also from being a new single on a [by then] already-re...

McCartney toured at 76. Provided they can perform on stage and enjoy it, they may have another 10 years or so of touring left in them.

Re: Neil Tennant in conversation, Saturday 5 October 2019, RNCM Theatre

He was asked about the likelihood of doing the Glastonbury legends slot next year... basically he sounded very positive but pointed out they don’t perform in daylight given the reliance on lasers and lighting. The implication was they have another, later slot. I can see them doing the Sunday night ...
