Please take extreme care on emails from administration @ petshopboys-forum .com !!!!!!!!!!!
In the last days I recognise some emails about Tickets for PSB@ROH which I THINK could be a money trap. After we have to hold this email open for user requests and alerts via the contact link (at the...
I know yesterday (13th March) was the first time a new PSB track had been played in ages, but (as per the long standing forum rules) in future all public requests for copies of any new track, PSB or otherwise, will be deleted and/or threads containing requests closed. We will officially...
There are lots of PSB Vids (Fan vids or otherwise) on Youtube..
Thought there could be a unified thread of all the links :)
Let me start off with this one..
Mini-Pet Shop Boys Go West
Very cute (and the miming is perfect! Even Sylvia-Mason James'!! ) but are they the Future PSB?? :o

Just came here to post the above - what's also great about the game is it's going to be scored by none other than Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor of NIN fame.
Please post times, dates, channels, etc here so forum users don't miss out.
Please try not to drift into conversation in this thread as key posts may get missed.

Wham!: Last Christmas Unwrapped
In celebration of its 40th anniversary, this Christmas special tells the story of how George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley’s Wham! turned one song into a cultural phenomenon.
As well as new interviews with Wham! fans and friends, figures such as Mary J Blige, Sir Bob...
This thread is for daily discussion of a Pet Shop Boys track, selected in chronological order, from studio albums starting with Please – including Further Listening – to the new album. The idea is to allow a 24-hour period of discussion for each track – then we move on to the next one. The first 11...

A great b-side, think it complements So Hard really good.
So what / how many official versions of Axis are there? I know that there's these:
Album version
Radio Edit
Boys Noize Remix
Boys Noize Dub
But I've also come across another version simply titled Extended at 5.57 in length. Kinda sounds like a demo version and has less vocals in it. Can't find...

There is also the official instrumental, but alas, only in mp3.

3. Through you (extended mix)
4. Beauty has laid siege to the city
5. Love is the law
6. I’ve got plans (involving you)
7. It’s not a crime

Here is my top 23.
Nothing from the extra tracks were able to knock any of the album tracks off the top 10 for me. Having said that, the consistency of the extra tracks is so good, that even the ones at the bottom of the list I enjoy.
My top 7 songs I equally love so much (the album versions),...
As this year draws to a close (in the Julian calendar at least), I thought this could be a good space to gather thoughts on an extraordinary year for Pet Shop Boys' fans.
The riches in the form of the new album (and many new songs), concerts, performances, appearances, podcasts, fashion spreads,...

A minor but largely overlooked indicator of their resurgence (or of Parlophone's heft) is the inclusion of new PSB singles on *three* successive Now compilations this year - none of them what you'd call hits. I'm not sure they've ever been on so many consecutively? While Now compilations aren't...
I love the extended mixes and I believe some of them would've fitted well the the albums instead of on the 12''. Not all of them though, some are too long or are too eclectic.
The 10'' mix of West End girls should've been on the album
The extended mix of Rent as well
Being Boring extended mix is a...

Memory of The Future extended mix could definately find a place on Electric.
I can't see why Pop Kids (full length) shouldn't be on Super.
Pet Shop Boys are happy to announce a special PSB-themed tea set, which will be released on 20th November and is available to pre-order now.
The products are the first to be launched as part of a new Pet Shop Boys since 1984 range to commemorate 40 years since the release of the duo’s debut single...
What will the 2024 Christmas card theme will be? My guess it's a Pet Shop Boys since 1984 -ish style card.

Did anyone else notice that PSB posted the card on Instagram yesterday morning and then almost immediately took it down? I barely had time to comment and it disappeared.
Pete Gleadall also had it up on his Instagram stories.
Pet Shop Boys today reveal a special expanded edition of their latest album, “Nonetheless”, which will be released in a triple black vinyl set, double CD set and digitally on 22nd November. Link to pre-order below.
The expanded edition will feature the full “Nonetheless” album plus four new...

So I'm thrilled with the demos, they sound really well produced to me, they don't sound like a demo at all, especially Loneliness, The Schlager Hit Parade, Bullet for Narcissus and Why am I Dancing are so super awesome, awesome to me, That's how I would have liked it on the final album, Why am I...

I went to the Tower ballroom in September and the couple in front of me were big Strictly fans. The guy on the desk said they all hated what the BBC did with it.
Also:
The guy on the desk?
Yes, there's a desk/podium before you go in. You have to pay to go into the ballroom.
Surprised the...
Following on from a comment in a post last week I thought it might be interesting to find out people's favourite artwork.
For me the visual side of PSB was one of the things that first attracted me to the band - I loved the fact that back in the day, quite often you only found out what the sleeve...

Sorry, PMT stands for Photo Mechanical Transfer. Graphic design back then was more complicated than it is now :-) If you are interested in this sort of thing, definitely check out my 'art on your sleeve' podcast and the Facebook group.
We know PSB have 4 song that reached #1 in UK but maybe we don't know anything about some songs from PSB that didn't get the top of the charts in UK but they got the top in other countries.
For example, did you know Suburbia was #1 in Poland and Belgium or What have I done to deserve this? in...
An expanded edition of Nonetheless is clear and the fifth single too but we don't know anything about it. The release for the expanded edition is in November but is there something waiting for December?, a single?, an EP?. Maybe the answer is no . But bear in mind they have been written many songs...

My ATYD CD’s arrived here in Melbourne this morning! 😎😍😃
In the latest podcast interview (was it with Jake Shears?) Neil again uttered his regrets about not doing a whole album with Dusty. So I thought there could be a lost Dusty album, and there is if we use the extended versions. A six track album only but in length like a proper LP.
In Private 12''...

I've got a good 9.5 minute extended mix of the album version of Nothing... and I'd change What Have I Done.. for the Disco Mix which I prefer (I hate those opening bars on the extended mix for some reason) giving me a 43 minute album.
I thought it might be interesting to have a separate thread for the artwork, but feel to merge if it's overkill.
So, they're back on the covers.... This is the first album they've been on the cover of since Fundamental, isn't it? 18 years ago! Interesting to see the return of a classic PSB font,...

Gosh wouldn’t it be simply delightful if a Nonetheless-styled title banner appeared on this forum this weekend! Yes it would.
Ask & ye shall receive, apparently.
Inclusive of all the new singles' artwork would be loverly!
Sorry if this has been a topic before, but living in Canada, as I do, you don't often hear PSB except perhaps the odd radio play of West End girls on a retro radio station, or similarly popular Please/Actually era songs in various stores (What have I done to deserve this? and Always on my mind pop up from time to time).
Today I was really...

Opportunities at Wal-Mart (a common grocery store in the USA) about two years ago. They have a nationwide playlist, so I think it played at all of them. Yeah, it's not an odd song or place, but it's only one of, like, TWO times I've ever heard the Boys in public, so it strikes me as odd every time....
I think PSB hate some things about the reaction of the public to their songs. One of them is well known and they have recognized it, their uptempo songs are more appreciated than their downtempo tracks. But the other one is not something negative. PSB have an hability to create good covers,...

Not everything that was succesfull in the 80's from PSB was outstanding. For example,
Heart was Nº 1 in many countries and now it's not even in the Top 10 most streamed songs from PSB or in the Top 10 of the best songs from them, something similar happened to first singles options like So Hard or...
Surprised that there’s no mention of this! I’ll re-watch as there was 2 snippets of small info that would excite some of you.
A really good listen too!
If I had 45 mins left to live I would probably listen to actually for the last time - which is discussed in this podcast.
Enjoy! X

It's a shame Neil is reluctant to do podcasts. I could listen to him just *talk* for hours. Kudos to Jake Shears for asking a question and letting Neil run with it uninterrupted. So many interviewers hardly let the subject get a word in edgeways.
He's getting warmer though, this is at least the...

I'm starting this thread having not been able to find anything similar in Geowayne's otherwise pretty exhaustive collection of PSB lists - how many PSB songs can we find where Neil's lyrics quote other songs deliberately, or at least in a way that could be deliberate?
The obvious example is...

It's Marvin Gaye! But yes, good one. I was thinking more lines that are hidden in the lyrics - I Want You, and That's The Way I Like It in Party Song, are a bit more obvious, I suppose.
It’s actually Between two islands.
Whoops, of course it is. It's all filed under I Get Along in my head....
Hey hey guys!!!
This is my latest unboxing.
15 Nonetheless versions.
It's not an unboxing strictly since most of the stuff was already unboxed. The thing is I can't help opening stuff that comes around as soon as I get it. And on top of it, this time Nonetheless versions arrived at many...

Hey all! As a Canadian fan, when I go to the site to buy the CD singles, it redirects me to the Warner Music site, which isn't carrying them. I can work around that and order from the main store but then I will not only have to pay the Euro conversion but also the mysterious import fee. Amazon.ca...

I don't know what is happening with ordering the CD singles. I managed to order 1 single at my local recordstore (Plato) - Dancing Star -, and I tried to order Loneliness and Feel, but they couldn't get these.
I think I'm in love... this has been on repeat all afternoon. Yes, it's slight, inconsequential, b-side material. But dear God, is it an off-kilter, highly unusual earworm crying out for a much longer remix.
What is said in the background at 2:32, anyone make it out? Big Boy ? Sounds like Chris?

Listening to the Nonetheless demos, I noticed the Feel demo bears striking sonic similarities to the Flamboyant demo. I know the music for Feel was written and recorded around the same time as Flamboyant, but I thought it might be possible they would re-record the music, even in demo form, for Feel...

I noticed the same thing! Also, the Barfly version of It's A Sin uses the same synth as used in the Feel demo. These were all done at the same time, so it'd make sense.
In the NLB/ATYD booklet it says that the phot of Chris Lowe is credited to Chris Burscough . Who is this guy?
I've found an obituary from 2018 of an 58 year old man with the same name and some other stuff indicating an architectural background.
The photo was taken ca 1980 so before PSB time, which...

Aw, that’s nice. Didn’t Chris say something about visiting friends in Preston when he was interviewed about Party in the Park? Maybe these are the friends.
My apologies if this has already been covered as there's so many topics here.

I will say, James Ford's production definitely got...

Hey all, I made a few mixes that I thought I’d share. A mix of the album version of Feel and New London boy with the demo vocals on top (and the saxophone from the demo which sounds better than the album version for some reason).

I think everyone thinks here the strategy of Parlophone has been successful.

They could release Dark end of the street digitally in December and the physical in January, but this probably won't happen. Naked is still a long way off I think.
I was listening to Now Yearbook 1990 last night and the version of So Hard is not the single or album version. It starts off very much feeling like a live track, there's even backing singers during the chorus.
Given that this is a release for tracks in 1990, I feel that having a live track from...
At last. The waiting has been long but now I finally have all the 6 Maxi-CDs from all singles released this year.

I've just started catching up on the pre-Nightlife CD singles I don't possess, which is the vast majority. I wish to God I'd bought the Electric and Super CD singles as they're now exorbitantly expensive. I have all the vinyl singles from Did you see me coming? onwards (apart from the RSD ones)
The sweet tea mix is the Ben Liebrand 9 course suite remix
The NuDisco mix is listed elsewhere as the Ben Liebrand nu disco bass remix
the one listed simply as Extended mix (run time 6:15) is the Michael Gray Sultra Remix
I confirm! These are the titles as they appeared on Fri 22 Nov 2024
Took me a bit to find an actual promo with US Radio Edits #1 and #2, which are unique yet official. Once I finally got them and compared them with everything else, turns out there's at least six different edits of this single, including a rather obscure Mexican one, which seems to be a fixed...
Comparing, for example, Music for boys (Altern8 mix) to Decadence (unplugged mix), or Hold on to All the young dudes (I. JORDAN mix), what would you say is the most extreme gap in sound and style between any two PSB songs?

I liked the idea and would go for If Love Were All and Euroboy .
I remember the days when people here used to say PSB were not more famous because of the lack of promotion they recieved. I'm not sure if this is true or false these days. I mean, what kind of exposure could they get (tv show, film, advert, etc) to see them on the official charts again?, can they...
