In the last days I recognise some emails about Tickets for PSB@ROH which I THINK could be a money trap. After we have to hold this email open for user requests and alerts via the contact link (at the...
I know yesterday (13th March) was the first time a new PSB track had been played in ages, but (as per the long standing forum rules) in future all public requests for copies of any new track, PSB or otherwise, will be deleted and/or threads containing requests closed. We will officially...

Thank you for the link leesmapman. I was already aware of them and found the last one does not include the first song they played (the Blur song Girls and Boys (PSB Remix)). For some reason it has been omitted from the youtube recording hence why I asked if anyone has their own recording.
The PSB are in a unique position; regarded by many as an 80's band, and a band who hit it big in their 30's halfway through the decade, they are among the oldest of the surviving synth/electro-pop bands. Therefore, they will step into brand new territory; being old and writing pulsating dance...

As mush as I love the Boys, I cringe every time I see Rod Stewart on stage and think "oh god, the man looks like Richard Dawson with a wig on." Maybe they should switch to producing only once Neil turns 60.
Anyway, I think that they've beaten this synths into strings thing to death after Nightlife,...
after seeing many PSB performances on YouTube, whether TV shows or live appearances, I think Neil lip-synchs more than he sings live
is it his choice or does he have to, what is your opinion
he always sings live on concerts and proves that he's a great singer live, so I wonder why he lip-synchs on...

Neil's not too bad, live. I think he's got better actually.
I listened to Kylie's Showgirl DVD yesterday. She's not much better than Neil, at all.
Being a PSB fan is like walking through a desert. You find the occasional oasis to fill your canteen at (and the water is oh so good) then you trudge onward looking for the next one. Finally when you think you have found another its just a mirage fooling you into disappointment.
I look forward to...

Kraftwerk: Electric Cafe 1986, Tour de France Soundtracks 2003.
Why have they suddenly dropped "We're The Pet Shop Boys" from the setlist in Germany? I was so happy when they introduced it to the set and was looking really forward to seeing it live in Hamburg. Since they released it I always thought it would make the pefect opening song at concerts. I hope they...

They only perform about the first half of 'We're The Pet Shop Boys' before it segues into 'Left to my own devices' anyway - doesn't get as far in to need the Chris part. More like a medley a la 'Opportunities/Integral'. Still a cool opening though. Wish they played it in it's entirety.
I was amused to read that Wayne has listed this particular performance as one of the strangest things that PSB have done over the years.
His text: "The hair! Synchronized hand-gestures! Giant shadows! Umbrellas with question marks! Chris playing with one hand! This transcends mere strangeness....

For me So Hard is the highlight of Performance. Its a great version of the song, both aurally and visually its a treat.
I know they've been doing this a version during the this tour, but I wish they'd do a proper version of it as it sounds fantastic on Performance and Discovery.
I'm doing a petition to get Integral removed from Fundamental. And not just from new copies, either. From EVERY SINGLE COPY that's out there. The idea is that a well-known celebrity, possibly Liza Tarbuck, will come to your house and physically remove 'Integral' from your copy of Fundamental...

Think about your descriptive terminology before using it. The use of 'dullard' here wasn't necessary.
One an unrelated issue to do with the original point and thinking behind this thread, it is now being closed. Please take drivel elsewhere Boy Strange.
Lydia has posted an online petition which she is going to send to Dave Dorrell...
i have added my comments - not sure if it will change anything but at least it would show Dave, EMI and PSB how mad we are about the whole Disco 4 / Non release of Integral !!
Last post
Yes its Lydia, and just as you tell her to get over it and realise that EMI won't change Disco 4, well get over it and realise that Lydia won't go away either. ANything PSB related, she will be there.
Do you reckon we could use the Shop Boyz as a decoy?
After the Fundamental tour, the boys will take a separate well earned holiday apart, Neil opting for Mallorca and Chris trying out Tenerife. They had both specified wanting to be at really cultural holiday destinations, hance the choices.
Neil will go through the petition with Dave Dorrell about...

That song from Release was a funny song! I love it.
Dear Neil, Chris and the heads of Parlophone Records. We, undersigned fans, ask You to change the tracklist of the new album Disco 4 in favour of new tracks and mixes of Pet Shop Boys songs, or to change the name Disco 4 to something else, as it does not reflect the...

They'll be setting up a protest camp outside Parlophone at this rate - a la the one at Heathrow!
Lol! Hey it might happen seeing the level of hysteria on here! ;)
I found a few songs on my old MC-tapes, that I recorded years ago. I know, they are "Where the streets have no name" and "DJ Culture" from PSB, but they are no album versions. What is the exact specification of that versions? Of course - I put only short excerpts with low quality on the server...

Yes it is exactly that version of Love to hate you, it starts out with like crowd noises but its not a live version.
A question I have already for ages in mind... Does anyone knows wich perfume Neil uses?
Something as Dior Homme, Issey Miyake, Comme des Garçcons,...? Any thoughts?
Last post
Has anyone that's met him ever smelt his Charley?
Excuse me?
What perfume does Neil use is interesting indeed, but the same perfumes might smell different on different people, so I just wonder how the perfume smells on Neil... 8)
Just wondering, does anyone know how many copies of I'm with Stupid were sold around the world? The chart placings weren't bad so pretty good i reckon(?)
Thanks!

IT was 25,500 in August of 2006, But what about world wide sales? Care to pounder
Is it me or what I read (wikipedia, they're reliable) true? PSB created a record label? Spaghetti Records. Cicero and Boy George is under this label. If PSB have their own label, why not ditch Parlophone and do things the right way. Like New order having Factory where they can do whatever and...

Yes, it was a Spaghetti/Parlophone release and had Parlophone catalogue numbers.
Calling all Belgian (and Dutch, French, German, English) fans!!

Dutch-speaking fans might be pleased with this very positive review in newspaper 'De Morgen' :

Oneofthecrowd, I believe D3 sold somewhere around 40,000 units, which would be the lowest out of all the albums, Disco's, and compilations. However, I read that a while back in a place I can't remember so I can't use that as 'proof'. It's just one of those little bits of info I've picked up and use...

As the exceptional Fundamental Tour 2006/2007 comes to a close, if you had to choose ONE song which you thought was played best Live, what would it be & why ?
Mine will have to be Where the streets have no name (I can't take my eyes off you) simply for the ecstatic sequencing.
Found the DVD already yesterday in the shops and watched it last night... WOWWW...
It's a wonderfull, amazing documentary with a very funny and talkative Chris.
Another TOP release from our dear Neil & Chris! Go out and just buy it!

Can someone please tell me how to tell apart the versions of "A life in pop" which feature and do not feature the video for "Flamboyant"??
It's confusing. Is it always the UK version that has the video? And there seem to be both region 0 and region 2 DVDs, does that have any bearing?
As the Fundamental Tour and Era comes to an end let us reflect on the year that has passed (all Bow) jokin'. When May 2006 came excitement came all over the PSB community as the almighty Fundamental album was released. Fans only got a taste of what was to come with the...

Great era with a lot of fantastic releases, maybe the best from Very. I am so happy to have had the chance to see them live for the first time in my life with 2 fantastic experiences: one in a Zürich theatre (my first gig abroad) and then in a historycal location in Milan.
I spent a lot of money...
In your humble opinions, what would save the upcoming Disco 4 release? In my mind, if the PSB either replaced the mixes of Stupid and Integral with two newly recorded extended cover versions of other artists’ songs performed by the boys or perhaps if they released a COMPLETE compilation of remixes...

Scrapping the whole idea of releasing PSB remixed tracks altogether and instead postponing the release of 'Disco 4' until something like 2010 - it's too soon after 'Disco 3'. 'Disco 2' was released 8 years after 'Disco' and 'Disco 3' released 9 years after 'Disco 2'.
I'm really surprised how many members here don't like "Numb"! "Numb" was the song which completely grabbed my attention at the concert-outstanding, touching and without much action on stage sending a strong message! I like everything about it-the orchestration, the build up, the lyrics and of...

Numb.
One of the MOST EVOCATIVE PSB songs EVER.
Don't discount it because it may not mean anything to you @ the moment ...
BUT --- SOME DAY IT WILL.
Compare it to the original Disco from 21 years ago. Probably one of the coolest albums ever recorded in the history of Pop music.
Disco 2 isn't quite as bad as is potrayed but it certainly doesn't come close to the original Disco....

No, not yet. And might never be, but I was wondering if Neil (or Chris) would ever accept such a title (or OBE, MBE, DBE  , etc)
Last post
I don't think Chris would get a Knighthood and I think IF it happend ,and IF Neil accepted it, it would be to do with other than his work with the PSB.
I see what you mean, PSB might be esteemed more for their work for others. Hence, Disco 4.
I hope this changes their mind... Sooner rather than later!
Get signing!

I signed the petition but I don't know why. I hate Integral, formulaic camp OTT rubbish. They should have the decency to retire instead of releasing loads of sh*te like this
Now that Disco 4 is mainly a showcase for their remixes for other artists, what is everyones favourite production/remix for other artists?
I love the Liza Minnelli album but my favourite track is 'I'm not scared' by Eighth Wonder. :D :D :D :D

I don't wanna speak about PSB remixes for other artists for one month after to have seen the sadness pf Disco 4 :x
It's getting a bit confusing having to wade through countless topics on the Disco 4 and Integral. So i thought i'd start a thread where all news and speculation can be kept here. Lets see how long it takes for someone to start another thread up ;)

My initial, flippant response was: Because it escaped from Fundamental.
However, upon further introspection, I realize it screams Fundamentalism. It's just a smidge too politically charged for the mainstream release. After all, Fundamental has several Left leaning songs already = I'm with stupid & Integral -...

I doubt remixing it would make that much of a difference to the commercial success of the song. I don't see why it can't be a hit as it is with proper radio play. I certainly hope they don't do an edit just to shorten the song. Most people listening to the radio have not heard the Fundamental...
Small mention along the lines of.....Neil Tennant and Chris said to be furious as 'I'm With Stupid' was played over that violent gay scene with the line "I hate the Pet Shop Boys" in that programme that was on a week or two back (I didn't see it and can't remember what it was called!).

It also shows that they have clout too.
But isn't it a legal right? Every artist has the right to decide in which context their music will be presented. PSB must have given their approval for I'm with stupid to be used in the program, but when they saw the context, they withdrew their approval, therefore...
Always on my mind is my favourite PSB song, but something bothers me, so I hope someone can answer these questions.
First of all, why is the official video so boring? Why is it that scene from the movie where they just sit in the car? I don't think it makes justice to the song at all. What is the fate of that...

Most singles sleeves from the 80s were either naff or like the promo vids far too literal.
I love the detached, minimal quality of PSB sleeves, makes you think and draw your own interpretation. If its all done for you and it's all over the top representational it sort of becomes all rather tacky...
