West End Girls cover

#1 Post by Debussy » Mon 27 Jan 2014, 4:07 pm

Here's a brand new cover that's just popped up on Soundcloud by Bright Light Bright Light and Ana Matronic.

I too like BLBL but Ana less so. West End Girls is such an iconic song - I cant help but compare t the original and it just doesn't.

I really like it! It's something they did for a benefit concert last weekend and it was totally unexpected and the audience was really into it.

Perhaps the live performance was better, but this sounds like two people recorded themselves playing SingStar. Colour me unimpressed.
And everything about tonight feels right and so young
And anything I'd want to say out loud will be sung
It's in the music...

Some Sounds are not but, but the vocals sound really not-Professional... Anyway I think it is one of the hardest songs to cover (and one of the easiest to sample :) )

How embrassing for her…and for the Scissor Sisters legacy. No wonder they are taking a break (i.e., they obviously are not feeling each other's creative energy anymore). That last album, "Magic Hour", was full of production mistakes and lazy thinking. Too bad they have gone down a path like this----almost like a retro act.

Sometimes the level of critique on here is masterful. Bravo!

I agree with others though; that it's basically impossible to cover. The origin nailed it. And it's almost the embodiment of Neil's vocal style.
