A Man Could Get Arrested (extended mix) question

#1 Post by PSBehaviour » Thu 03 Aug 2017, 11:59 pm

The Bible (www.psb-catalogue.com) mentions these 2 versions by Steven Spiro

4:50 A Man Could Get Arrested (7" mix)
5:37 A Man Could Get Arrested (extended mix)

My question: Has the extended mix ever seen the light of day? If yes, on which release?

That's an interesting finding! I've never noticed that. Does it mean that the original concept of "Alternative" had a slightly different tracklist?

On discogs.com I found a test pressing of CD2 of yet unnamed compilation: https://www.discogs.com/The-Pet-Shop-Bo ... se/2052844

They included alternative mix of "Decadance" and "Overture to Performance".
I've been around the world for a number of reasons. I've seen it all the change of seasons, and I, my lord, may I say nothing?

Thanks for your help. Looks like a mission impossible to find this then.

Yep, it's out there, not on any official release that I can recall but it's around on the web and not bad quality too. It's an extended version of the b-side West End Girls 7" version it's named the "DAT" mix.

There are two versions of the "DAT" mix, one with a slight edit blip (5:42) and one with the blip edited out which is the "extended mix" (5:40).

well not "out there" when I do my searching, Is this a legit mix or a home made mix by some obscure people?

It's the official 5:42 mix that's out there, it's also known as "Unreleased studio DAT version".

It is not a real remix. The "unreleased extended DAT version" is just a glitch on the tape that repeated a section, no remixing, nothing special, no unreleased section of the song, just an error. If anyone has a legit extended version they would like to share to prove me wrong, you are more than welcome to do so. Same for the Andy Gray mix of Go West or the A Man Could Get Arrested dub from the Canadian cassette single.

Thanks for the reassuring info. I am much calmer now.
